I’m Called George was first conceived way back in 2010 with George on guitar and vocals, and James on keyboards. Both James and George co-write the music, with George the voice behind the lyrics and James taking control of the studio sounds. Tired of being duo, a year, and many failed attempts later, I’m Called George was finally complete as a four piece electro-pop powerhouse, with the addition of Elmo and Connal. Elmo is the beautiful bassist and blog writer and Connal, the beast on the bongos, is their resident ‘percussion expert’. Moving base from the middle of nowhere (Buckinghamshire) down to the middle of London, Zone 1 became their new home, playing gigs at 229, Water Rats, The Bowery and the O2 Academy, Islington.

Now approaching the end of their second year in action, I’m Called George is soon to release their new single, ‘49 Soda + A Bottle of Rum’, due February 2013, to accompany their first promotional track, ‘Jigsaw’. To add to this, they have recently headlined The Buffalo Bar, Islington and have had successes in competitions such as Live & Unsigned, as well as playing at various festivals around the country over the summer. In early 2013, you will also see the band perform again at Water Rats, and the well renowned Cargo for their single release party.

Not wanting to blow their own trumpet, they let MKFM do it for them: “Mixing beautiful pop sensibilities with indie hooks and swirling keys, one listen to track 'Jigsaw' will have you won over.” But we all know there’s only way to find out...

The Boatsmen is rock´n´roll for the preparty, the dancefloor, the afterparty, the seduction and the hangover. The Swedish quartet themselves describe their sound as an exciting drunken fisticuff between Ramones, MC5 and The Beach Boys at a derailed punk rock show.

Following a split 7" with fellow Örebro constellation The Submissions, The Boatsmen is releasing their anticipated full length debut in February 2013. The self-titled maiden voyage will be made available digitally and on vinyl 12” by garage/punk label Zorch Productions (Home The Scams, Barbwires...).

The Boatsmens ecstatic live shows, captained by charismatic front man/animal Håkan Ficks (also handling beard and bass duties for The Durango Riot), has gained praise across Sweden. April 2013 saw their first tour overseas, as they conquered Germany together with Irish-German hard rockers Black Sheriff.
