A few weeks ago, while riding bikes with my brand-newly, officially-asked fiancé (hihihihi) we came across a series of rocks. These rocks weren't just boulders in random formation, it turned out that they were massive stones weighing up to 1 ton, that were moved into place by people, in the year 600 B.C. After reading a bit of info about these rocks, we learned that they were placed in exact reference to the stars in the pre-historical sky. Believed to have been used for worship, protection, and spirtiual preservation, they have stood here for thousands of years, and have been studied and scrutinized ever since their discovery.

My fiancé Petra Kraeutner the crtically praised founder/creator of Pebelle, a Viennese fashion label specializing in the sacred art of rethinking tye dyes, decided to use this setting as the concept for her fashion show. The mysticism of these rock formations, and the "naturally raw" style of Pebelle fit together in perfect harmony, creating a pleasing visual display inspired by prehistorical precision.

After brainstorming for the rest of that afternoon, Petra and I came up with a simple phrase:"walking on a trail, and following the stars." It's this haunting phrase that is repeated over, and over again, in the music I've composed for the show apty called "CLENDY." Named after the street in yverdon-les-bains, Switzerland where the stones are located, it's my pleasure to invite you to have a look/listen to the long lasting impression these rocks and their effortless immortality have made on us.

My good friend is pregnant with her first child.  She asked me to learn one of her favorite songs by Leonard Cohen.  I learned it and recorded it really late in the evening over at my friend Michael Kuehli’s house in Marne Germany.  Michael was also the key to making the Maria Magdalena Sessions a reality in Germany too. (Feel free to check that recording session out on the Vayden youtube channel.)  

Seriously thank you to all my friends for giving me another good reason to sing and make music.  Here’s to the health and prosperity of the next generation of music lovers.

A little while back the music director of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) hit me up to sing a song that he wrote for one of their characters, Matt Hardy.

The story was, after a long and successful tag team partnership with the "Hardy Brothers" it was time for Matt to break away and do his own thing.

This is the resulting song. "Me"

Jim Johnston is a killer musician and song writer and I was totally honored that he would call me up to have me lend my voice to one of his creations.

Not to mention it's the WWE!

All signs of good creative people to do business with.

I'd encourage anyone who sees the value in public speaking, body mastery, and good ole fashion entertainment to pursue a career in the WWE format.  It's a long way to the top, just like rock n roll.  But if you're reading this you probably already know it's more about the journey then it is the destination.


Lastly I just want to leave you with a thought that my oldest sister Eileen blessed me with.

"If everyone in the world looked out and cared for themselves, then there would be no one in the world that wasn't looked or cared after."

She's so wise.  Remember to take time for yourself and trust that truly doing the best by you is the best thing you can do for your people and environment too.

This is our 2nd time working with Austrian fashion designer Pebelle. This time exploring the vows of marriage and the limits of time, hence the aptly named "Till Death Do Us Part" performance. 

The song "Manners" was written by Caleb Kylander from The Jamborines, who are due to release their second album in Nov 2013. 

"Till Death Do Us Part" was perfromed live at Kunstahlle, Wien March 15th 2013.

Hi hello!  

Thanks for stopping in.  It was a strange week indeed but isn't it always?  I've noticed lately that we are spending a lot more time in front of these glass monitors.  I don't know if that's good or bad.  I'm thinking moderation is the key.  Make sure you get outside and smell the roses every once in a while...  Ok on to music.    

I wrote and recorded this song about 11 sun cycles ago.  The guitars are a bit hot (which means loud) but that's what happens when you let the guitarist mix the record.  :)  It's still one of my favorite jams to sing to myself when I'm on the acoustic.  It's called without you and I do hope you enjoy.

Without You

So I've never been more pleased with how a recording has turned out as
I am with the latest Vayden record.

Basically for 6 months last year we locked ourselves in a Studio in
Baldwin Park CA. And we screamed and yelled at each other (with our
instruments and sometimes our big boy words) until we learned
something very important in music and in life.  How to listen to what
eachother was saying.

After 6 months of that head banging and bashing we flew out to Bremen
Germany and recorded the album in 12 days.  Then we toured around
Germany for a bit brought the masters back home and had them mixed in
good ol LA.  Now because we live in the day and age we do we just put
the enitre album online for anyone to listen to enjoy and purchase.

For the next 11 weeks on the BOC I might just drop another track off the
Vayden record until everyone who is familiar with me goes and gets a copy and a
taste of something that I am very blessed to be a part of.

This song "Alone in the Sky" was one that I wrote the lyric and melody
on an acoustic then the dudes came in and put their voices on it
and it became the epicness that you hear in this recording.

I dropped an unmixed sneak preview of this song a couple of months ago
but now that the album is out mixed and mastered I'm putting it back
in the book.  (Like some of you may know this place is kind of like a musical diary for me)

Look truth is everyone deserves a rock in their life.  Sometimes you lean on that rock for strength.  Other times that rock weighs you down and at first you might be mad about it but then you realize it's just keeping you grounded and grounded is good.

Recording this was interesting because we didn't really know how it was going to turn out.  But now it's one of my favorites tracks off the new Album.

Curtis Casey is an American Born Singer Songwriter from Phoenix Arizona who was raised all over the United States as well as the country of New Zealand where his Mother was born and raised.  

“We moved around our fair share because my father was a nuclear engineer. Music and song writing with an acoustic guitar became my constant and was my safe place.  To this day whenever I walk into a room and there is a guitar in it I immediately feel welcome.”

As a half Polynesian half Irish American Curtis learned to love and appreciate music and singing of all types at a very young age and still loves the entire process of writing and recording music.  

For 15 years he toured all around Europe and the United States with his Active Rock / Nu Metal band, Vayden.  

“We were lucky we got signed to a subsidiary of Warner Music very young and they sent us all over the place to play.  We ended up recording 3 albums together and 2 EPs.”

Now Curtis enjoys the simple joy of singing nice songs in cool places to appreciative audiences.

Today he lives in Marina Del Rey with his wife, two sons and small daughter.
