For Origins Tapes 005 we’re keeping it strictly grassroots with close friends, Sounds of Manchester. This fine assortment of music enthusiasts created an online Facebook group 2 years ago to share their love for underground music, oh, and as the names suggest... the groups curators met in Manchester. 

Providing the recording we have chywood & Dinh who step up to represent SoM, serving up over an hour of 90s flavours. Expect a blissful mix of organs, dubs, and the odd car alarm. With the launch of their own party imminent, keep posted for these 2 in an intimate venue soon.

We’re Going Deep is a new label run by an old head – Paul Wise aka Placid, born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of deep electronic music and a thirst for collecting records since 1989.

Rather than staying too hung up on the past, the label’s mission is to release new music for the dance floor, your front room or even just your headphones. If you’ve come across the We’re Going Deep forum – you’ll know all about the journey and the collective digging that goes deep into Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House and even the odd foray into downtempo territory.

Kicking things off in style, Volume 1 is a four track ep made by four brilliant artists. First up, a legend in the 303 business, Tin Man drops an up-front 303 workout as he takes a large slice of ‘88 influence and delivers a jam packed full of purist panache. Next up, Derek Carr brings his own unique sound of warm detroitesque techno, replete with catchy electronic hooks that draw you in and stick in your head for weeks. On the flipside, close friend and fellow TB-303 enthusiast Posthuman delves deep into his box of tricks. Keeping the acid to the bare minimum on his contribution, he provides an epically deep slice of melancholia led by beautiful chords that keep everything moving. Last but not least, Dircsen slows everything right down and takes us on a journey of pure 303 bliss that will delight newcomers and old heads alike.

Inner Zone’s debut EP on The Bricks affectionately reminisces the past - time travelling through dreamy breaks and acid to 90s rave – while remaining firmly rooted in the present.

The ‘JV Sports EP’ marks the seventh release on Anna Wall’s imprint and it’s a long time coming; the trio have been producing together for over five years and only now is their music finally seeing the light of day. Alex Anderson, Rupes & Dr Baird met in London during the years of the Make Me loft parties in 2013-15; their history in the clubs an audible influence within their productions. This EP was started back in the days of bleary-eyed late nights in 2015 and finished in 2020, a distinctive trip through styles reflecting their broad taste.

In the studio they are fond of hardware; the classic sounds of the Roland JV-2080 can be heard in ‘JV Sports’, the X0xb0x 303 for the acid line on ‘Reality Grid', and the Kawai K5000S features on synth duty in ‘The Last Arpy’. Alec Falconer ramps up the BPM for the remix, delivering an unmissable breaks version that craves for a dancefloor.

Monika Ross opens the selection with “Cut Strategy” on the A1, a dark winter spookyness set around 2 step glitches and delay. Tom Frankel takes over on the A2 with an ode to Green via “Terp Flavours”. UKG inspired micro house - lockdown business. On the flip Mariiin drops her debut release entitled “Elif” on the B1 - a head down mover setting the tone for her future sound.
