Founded by bass and breakbeat superstar FreQ Nasty alongside fellow DJ/producer David Starfire, the Dub Kirtan All Stars is a live band/DJ collective that originally came together with the intention of fusing “bass-heavy underground dance music with Yoga Kirtan,” a kind of traditional South Asian devotional chanting tradition centered on a call and response performance usually accompanied by acoustic instruments.

As realized by the Dub Kirtan All Stars, the form has elevated into a genre-blurring fusion of vocals, chanting and South Asian instruments crossbred with contemporary electronic beats and bass that we Insomniacs hold sacred in our own way. As FreQ Nasty explains it,
