Ultramajic goes for the jugular with the second chapter of its Metaphysix series after Aden and Creepy Autograph's first installment won over many new hearts in 2013 (particularly with the much-buzzed about "Whip") while keeping existing acolytes very happy.

Inspired in equal parts by legends of early Detroit music and arcane philosophical-religious concepts, these are savage drum tracks slimmed down to their meanest and leanest states - dance music at an elemental level, pure rhythmic bliss that would do past drum machine wizards like Plastikman very proud while sitting nicely alongside modern operations like Night Slugs' Club Constructions series. It's no surprise, then, that Night Slugs co-founder L-Vis 1990 makes an appearance here under his Dance System alias with the rugged "RZ1", effortlessly bridging the gap between forward UK styles and vintage Detroit soul. Matrixxman steps up to the plate in a big way with the hard drum rolls of "Simulation" and two different incarnations of the jacking, rimshot-crazy "Stop It". Creepy Autograph is back for his second appearance in the Metaphysix series with a ferocious remix of "Simulation" while Lando (formerly Lando Kal) rounds things out with "Loveplay", adding soulful vox and bouncing synths to the machinelike motif.

All in all this a lethal set of no-frills, drum machine-inspired workouts that demonstrate the "less is more" maxim with sterling results, revealing each artist to be a virtuoso of rhythm and Edgar to be a consummate curator. Complete with magickal cover art by Jimmy Edgar and Pilar Zeta reportedly made while traveling in Egypt, there is indeed much magic to be mesmerized by here.

The third law of Metaphysix is titled Correspondence, which refers to a universal law that states “as above so below, and vice versa"—in other words, the universe is a fractal, and it's all connected. In this series, we look at the relationship and musical connection between Paris and Ultramajic.  We invited our close friends to take part of this compilation, and we also have a new artist joining the ranks: Crystal Bandito. 

This is the Ultramajic correspondence: Five ostensibly disparate producers from around the world translating similar musical ideas through cultural barriers. Label boss Jimmy Edgar finds a common ground with French talents Bambounou, French Fries, and Bobmo in rigid Chicago-influenced drum workouts, dusty drum hits, and staccato blasts. The two mysterious names on the track list, on the other hand—Aden and Crystal Bandito—offer a massive stomper with chunky hip-hop vocals and a unhinged techno tune with rashes of metallic percussion, respectively.

Weekend Circuit stride on with the second part of P.E.A.R.L.’s ‘Desolation’ EP welcoming Francois X, Reeko, I/Y and Jeff Rushin to this series of remixes, servicing the generation with every bit of expansive energy techno music has to offer.

Francois X’s remix of ‘In Space' architectures raw, artificial, and flat-out production with gritty realism and brutal drum sequencing. Taking the original and making it his own, externally imposing in on itself, this peak time pattern leaves you energised and hectic.

Reeko takes on the title track ’Desolation’, the result is plagued with atmosphere; stripping, capturing and examines you before you have chance to do so to it. The tracks estranged essence and amalgam of sound is immediately apparent. It has you uncertain and poised for more, pulsating with darkness at every turn.

I/Y's 'Reduction' reduces nothing of the sort, constantly fluxing between varying percussion types of both hi and low energy. Considering nothing more than to possess you with filter laden drum pads and a stark reality, IY have created a hypnotic vision of creative compulsion that'll have you dance yourself silly.

Rushin delivers his sonic canvas of sound; every bit his own, this original piece of production magnifies any opportunity to cause dancefloor commotion. Emphatically crafted, this thought proving and thunderously loud and vivid record will keep you exhilarated from start to finish.

Transcending life's problems in to nothing, Techno does what Techno does, and Weekend Circuit does what it can to support. Impeccably produced, this second coming of sound is a sonic ambition that'll nail you to the wall, and stick as memorable stuff; an absolute MUST for any techno enthusiast.

A Frenchman called Tomas More once lived in Londres. During the 00s he met up with a friend named Danton Eeprom and began hosting parties that city’s infamous T Bar where they invited French DJs such as Jennifer Cardini and Chlóe to play alongside British luminaries like Andrew Weatherall. A little later More & Eeprom began ‘Foundation Black Thursday’ at that venerable Parisian institution the Rex Club, hosting artists such as Jamie Jones and Maetrik. And then growing in confidence More realised he was bored and needed to escape his comfort zone and engage in a new means to realise himself and the nom-de-guerre December was born, an alter-ego facilitating exploration of the darker aspects of his art. Marked by confrontation December takes cues from French cold wave bands and techno artists such as Finland’s Pan Sonic and early Autechre. December stares deep between the cracks and coaxes out the little dark things that lie therein, producing a dark, multi-layered mix, hanging between ambient and techno and pierced through with the angst and loss and fire of punk and no wave music.
