Len Faki takes on a couple of classics for 007 of his ongoing special edits series LFRMX, striking a perfect balance between the old and new.

First up is a tweaked version of Steve Stoll’s 1998 LP-excerpt Reciproheat, elegantly edged while carrying the proper weight to move.

DJ Shufflemaster’s booming Housedust release from the same year however has a wacky tack to its groove, it’s mind-bending qualities yet amplified by Faki boiling down the tempo to more current confines.
The flipside goes all deep, starring a rework of Valentino Mora’s recent space odyssey. Building upon the original’s lively tribal percussion, the prevailent mystical mood is spliced up, readying the track special moments in an otherwise up-tempo-environment. A gently pulsing edit of UBX127’s Barabrus eventually puts a meditative and soothing finishing touch to the EP.

As with all releases of LF RMX, the proceeds of this record will be forwarded to the Berlin organization Straßenkinder e.V. to be used in actions against child poverty.

Lucy Cliché - Cliché's Principle

"Cliché’s Principle” exhibits the two-sided aura of an artist long familiar with the cultivation of DIY ethos: an effortless expulsion of playful immediacy and the unfolding of a musician well versed in unpretentious composition. Lucy Cliché’s five track EP for Fleisch Records is a jacking romp through 120-125bpm electro/new-beat, swooning through downcast ambience, lobotomised vocal samples and sweat-drenched hardware rhythms.

Lucy’s musical oeuvre piles high; as a figure in the Sydney underground for the past 15 years she has always explored sounds that playfully antagonize the status-quo; the dysfunctional no-wave approach of her band Naked On The Vague and the manipulated tape ambience of Half High echo throughout Cliché’s Principle in the form of chorus buzzed synth chords, abstract drones and ethereal evocation. While there is the strong presence of a live veteran at work behind the machines, Cliché’s Principle holds five tracks produced purely with the intention of paving the dance-floor.

Arts has now passed the landmark number of 100. But the reality is that we divided all the records into different categories, which makes the total number way bigger. Nevertheless, the label has become synonymous with Quality and Consistency with a wide range of timeless sounds from Techno, House, Dub Techno, Electro, championing some of the most respected names in the scene and pushing the youth and putting this same Youth at the very top of the Chain, the label Philosophy keeps rotating on a different level of Orbits trying to reach always the best result and never be influenced by anything in the Scene.

The Box is a meticulous work of One entire Year, every artist of the 20 selected delivered something that connects deeply with the label and the reason why they are part of it. 
The study goes beyond when Artists get different colors of palettes and a different surface to paint, their known soundscapes comes with something freer than the usual approach that they did in their singles. This is a pinnacle for a label that always placed Music in front of everything but kept the design and the aesthetics on a top level each release, each Year. ARTS V is here.

Regal debuts on BPitch Berlin with one of his rare releases outside his own Involve imprint. His »The Eyes« EP draws heavily on early hardcore and the powerful acid sound that has become the Spain-based producer’s signature style ever since he started making waves in the techno scene in 2012. Over the course of four tracks however, Gabriel Cassina showcases a previously unknown side of his abilities. More versatile, more experimental, and more stylistically diverse, »The Eyes« shows Regal at his most radical. If his past releases were dedicated to updating the sounds of the nineties for the present, his  first offering on Ellen Allien’s label sees him heading straight for the future.
The breakneck title track alone will surprise even the most devoted Regal followers with an entirely di erent sound and style. Eschewing the mighty four-to-four thump that dominates most of his work, »The Eyes« is rhythmically closer to recent pieces like »Double Standard« but still sticks out from Regal’s vast discography. If you’ve ever wondered what an acid-infused early 90s hardcore track would sound like if Regal had produced it, here is your answer. It’s not like Cassina slows down when experimenting; on the contrary, he only picks up speed. »Fire left engine,  fire right engine«, a voice commands at the beginning of the cheekily titled »Overground«, which then immediately launches us into outer space and towards rave ecstasy on a 140+ bpm backbeat.
»I Need You« opens the flip in typical hard-hitting Regal style but throws two elements in the ring that give this track an unusual spin. From beneath the murky, hoover-like chords, a glistening guitar melody slowly rises above the relentless groove. Intensifying more and more, it only serves as a preparation for the emotional turning point near the middle of the track, when a seemingly familiar voice intones the track name with soulful urgency. »I Need You« is an intense and raw piece of techno, both emotionally and sonically speaking. »Stimulus« brings about a welcome change in mood after this overwhelming experience: this is five and a half cathartic minutes of acid techno at its purest, informed by the likes of Cassina’s all-time hero Plastikman or nineties rave legends like Emmanuel Top. The backbeat-driven peak time energy of »Stimulus« offers exactly the kind of dark, cosmic sound that BPitch founder Ellen Allien has been leaning towards as a DJ recently, making it a perfectly  tting closing track for Regal’s first release on the label.

Lobster Theremin continue a string of euphoric, rave ready techno and trance cuts with a release from Germany’s Rove Ranger that’s hard, fast and effective. Straight off the back of his latest release on ravey UK imprint 10 Pills Mate, and his incredible track ‘Stutenlove’ on Lobster’s PLUR Compilation Volume 1. Rove Ranger is the dancefloor gift that keeps on giving. ‘

Opener ‘1998’ conjures up earlier release Rave Memories, with loopy, psychedelic, thundering 140+ techno, hurtling us from acid car ride into full flight across a sunset-burnt sky. Hefty percussive techno with an old skool sound, waves or rave drift over pacey heat and compelling kicks. Then we arrive at ‘101010’. 100% warehouse body music on this driving title track. Organic, clinking, clattering shell percussion clops over a dark, endless beat. True Berlin warehouse spirit channelled into the machine.

The uplifting ‘In My Mind’ is a proper chunky club pumper, blending lush vocals, squelchy bass lines and housier elements. The peak of euphoria and a nostalgic trip back to 90’s fusion dance music. Rounding out the EP on a eurorave tip, ‘Schaltkreis’ launches down a swirling, mesmerising wormhole. Pulling together urgent trance-synth stabs, racing pulse drumwork and crushed production taking us headlong into the abyss
