Farfa is a Florence-born DJ with decades of experience and a renewed drive to turn emotion and rhythm into dance-floor art. Starting in the ’90s with sets of funk, disco and proto-house, his sharp selection and fluid mixing soon made him one of Italy’s most respected exports, playing leading clubs and festivals worldwide.

His sound has been described as everything from psychedelic techno to cyber-trance, but Farfa follows instinct over genre, shaping each set in the moment.

This mix moves through deep tech and progressive grooves with touches of nu-trance, finishing with an ’80s-tinged flourish.

BCCO Mix Series 679: Francesco Farfa

Perhaps most known for his work as half of techno outfit Cassegrain, Istanbul native Hüseyin Evirgen has been active as solo artist since 2016 and making a name in his own right. His early classical training has taken a broader form in more recent years, a mashup of inspirations with strong mathematical current where simple ideas culminate in more complex and exponential compositions. Under the name Magna Pia, and adjunct label Arcing Seas his hulking techno has taken shape, and the imprint’s proven a platform for the publishing of his own work, Cassegrain’s and that of a small number of his close collaborators. His driving beats offer powerful and provocative moments mixed in with a clever spin on ambient that’s recognizable from a mile off, and constantly pushing what’s possible in sound to new and unforeseen heights. His 2019 album Daiauna was a return to roots record that incorporated his earlier training as piano player with the fluid electronics developed since, foraging too from his keen instinct for primal rhythms and high-brow symbolism. In the end it’s deeply physical, and proof of techno’s staying power as a medium for dance and social change. Bassiani Podcast 27 covers all these bases and more, an honest and striking addition to a body of work in constant flux. 4/4 magic from a true master.

The project is composed of well known artists from the industry that want to remain unknown.
Arctic Zero enables the audience to focus on the main characters: music and art. Sculpting sonic landscapes from raw and genuine energy, it invites the listener to dive into an altered state of mind, into the unknown.
Arctic Zero is the origin of an infinite journey where one can explore timelines and get lost into the abyss. Each set is a sonic expedition, pulsing rhythms echoing like shifting glaciers.
Their performances are extremely immersive yet energetic and danceable.

Yes, we have set the bar very high with guest mix 115 by Curses. ÆSTR is the main project of French DJ and producer Esther Filankembo. Sculpting sound rituals at the crossroads of industrial techno, raw/hypnotic, techno body music, and rhythmic noise, ÆSTR weaves relentless sets inspired by dystopia, science fiction, and spirituality.

She aims to plunge minds and bodies into altered states, until the ego dies. Formerly known as dancer and musician Yshar, she has been forging her art since 2010, performing from Paris to New York. With her new track “Marks,” released this year on Industrial Coast label, ÆSTR once again reveals her love for dark techno and industrial styles. 

A multifaceted artist, she continues to explore production through collaborations. On October 15, her remix of “Fade” for the artist Hørd was released on Paragon Recording.

ÆSTR is part of the Techno Fatale collective. She has shared the stage with Ancient Methods, Crystal Geometry, The Hacker, Mind | Matter, NNHMN, L.F.T and has performed B2B with Alpha Sect. Fingers crossed she'll be coming to your town as well soon!

Blank Wave Guest Mix 116: ÆSTR

Vasco Rompão aka Kapa Preta is a an artist born in Lisbon, Portugal. Since early age he perceived that music was her connection because your roots from Angola, being a member of dance ensembles of African rhythms and of a musical band. In mid 2020, with strong influencesfrom in electronic music we start to explore more genres while he founds your our style. For this reason, he’s already been requested to go to several cities in your country and worldwide.

In 2023, he started to dive into stronger genres such as Techno, hypnotic techno and dub techno. Her attraction to dance free into dark atmospheres led her to focus on the search of this branch.

Her track selection brings a rhythm of intensity and energy. Trying to generate an original sound for the listener. Given his versatility , he has the opportunity to record mixes in Concept (Netherlands) , Radio Electronic Jena (Germany), Cheek Records (Germany), Amsterdam Techno Records (Netherlands) and Groove Harmony from Fnoob Techno (England).

He also recorded for the East Side Radio (Portugal) and in Collect Radio (Portugal). He also performed at one of the emblematic houses of Portugal (Lux Frágil).

The ≠ (not equal) series in Berghain fathoms the intersecting trajectories of sound research, dramaturgy, narration and affect in contemporary electronic music. The line-up put together for its second edition by Berghain and CTM leads us through various musical phases, from listening thru club, in which dramaturgical density, deep timbres, and sound’s intense physicality and coarse materiality nevertheless always predominate.

While, in the millennium upheaval, the positive rush and futuristic drive of rave mapped out utopias based on egalitarian community spirit, emancipatory technologies, liberated locations and unrestrained bodies, electronic music today, with its disquieting tonality, frequently also reflects the oppressive repercussions of our current submergence in medial dematerialization, the control society, and increasingly self-referential data streams that appear to live a life of their own.

With hypnotic depth, irresistible psychedelics, grainy textures and raw frequencies, the artists at this special concert/ club night neutralize or amplify the internalized unease triggered by such perceptions as well as their psycho-social impact.
