Area Z is proud to present our 11th tape, courtesy of Paris-based artist Théo Ferretti.

Coming from his gothic and post-punk roots, the project aims to fuse these influences with shades of electronic body music, martial techno and mystic industrial music, blending together darkness, poetry, existentialism and modern day brutalism.

Questioning the duality between the material and the immaterial, the past and the present, the sacred and the cursed, M I M’s sound is severe and transcendent while remaining danceable and cathartic.

Staring at the Void -his third EP- is the logical following to all of these topics, a dive into the abyss of the human subconscious through haunting basslines, rains of metal hits, screams of despair and liturgical chants.

Joining forces to Théo’s release, we have the pleasure to present three remixes of the EP, courtesy of England’s Randolph & Mortimer, our Toulouse's Arabian Panther and from UVB’s side-project Elements of Joy, which presents his first remix under this alias.

The Cowbell Is For The Teacher (Original Mix) 

It's safe to say that the mystery theme was on Etane's mind while making this whole EP and this song is no exception. One of the most fascinating things about this piece is that the name of the song includes a cowbell and the fact that it was actually used in this track and even emulated using other instruments throughout the whole track is just beyond alluring. Not to mention that the title "The cowbell is for the teacher" is totally misleading. Some might think of it as a children's song and that is just hilarious.

Following up from the Beatport No.1 debut release on HORIZN, comes the next installment on the new imprint from Volaris. "Hypnosis"  is a thunderous club stomping melodic banger, already gaining some huge support across the house and techno community including Rebuke, Nicole Moudaber and Paco Osuna. On remix duties is ZAC, the Brazilian maestro who shot to global recognition with his gigantic remix of Rebuke's "Along Came Polly" which was one of the biggest records of 2023.
