Live From The Warehouse Project [Manchester]

Our September offering is a mix from The Burrell Connection, a producer from the Southside of Glasgow who has been flying under the radar for a few years. He boasts a recent release on Krysko's "I Walked By Night" record label and has kindly recorded an hour of high intensity, floor-focussed music.

A Perth native/Glasgow immigrant, The Burrell Connection has been making music since he was 15, his first release coming via West End Communications in 2015. He has most recently appeared on Craigie Knowes‘ rock solid second annual War Child fundraiser alongside Legowelt, Shanti Celeste, Neville Watson and many more.

After debuting at the Warehouse Project in 2016, The Burrell Connection is gearing up for his first live show in 2017.

Our baby brother @theburrellconnection closing off the Craigie Knowes room in Berlin’s Wilde Renate from 8am a couple of weeks ago. Despite the recording cutting out after an hour and a half he went right through until gone 12. Big thanks to all the dancers that stayed out until the very end. The last 2 tracks were HN03 -  Doughnut Dollies and Eleven Pond - Watching Trees. 

As this is a live recording cut right from the early hours expect a few bumps, scuffs and crowd noises throughout, but we think it paints the vibe perfectly of what was one of the best parties we’ve had the pleasure to promote and play at. Love to the Lezure, Move Forward and Renate crews. See you next time.

The Burrell Connection touched down at the Jaeger mix last week for an impromptu visit. The Scottish DJ and producer was in town to perform a live show at Revolver on the Saturday and stayed an extra day to for an early set at the the Jaeger Mix session.

The Burrell Connection is Alexander Hay, a resident at Glasgow club La Cheetah and  a producer with credits under West End Records and Graigie Knowes. It was his Hyper/Orbit record on the latter that caught our attention when we reviewed it for the cut with Filter Musikk, and a few emails later through some serendipitous colluding, we got him over for the Jaeger Mix on a chance visit to Oslo.

Bringing  that distinctive UK sound to our booth on Sunday night, The Burrell Connection laid down a delectable blend of bone-rattling breaks, razor sharp sonic excursions and a hefty sub bass drawl penetrating our late night courtyard, where a crowd had already amassed for a stellar Sunday night on the tiles.

It reflects only a small aspect of Hay’s extensive musical purview, and although it’s not the kind of sound he’ll stick to throughout an eight hour session at La Cheetah, it channels the sound and attitude that he captures over his records. Expect some brooding ratcheting cuts from the DJ, you also informs us that there are few hidden unreleased exclusives in this mix.
