Hiding (Reworks) is a unique collection of recompositions highlighting the talents of several exciting musicians, centering around a track that pianist and composer Garreth Broke wrote for solo piano called Hiding.

Hiding was first released as part of a collaboration with artist Anna Salzmann titled Healing, which explored the healing process in all its complexities. Whenever Garreth returned to the piece or played it in concerts, he kept having new ideas for it, as if the piece itself were telling him that it wanted to grow. This prompted him to invite a group of musicians whose work he admires to create a series of reworks of this composition, encouraging them to be as adventurous as they liked — a task that they really embraced, leading to some mesmerising results.

The result is this EP, in which Hiding is presented in six different forms. First, you’ll hear the original piece re-recorded on a gorgeous felted C. Bechstein upright piano, then reinterpreted by the fantastic ondes Martenot player and multi-instrumentalist Josh Semans from the UK. The wonderful Australian clarinetist and looper Ruby Lulham, aka Clariloops, offers up the gorgeous third track, which is followed by an exhilerating rework by Sweden-based Vargkvint and Jakob Lindhagen featuring wordless vocals, kantele, zither, harmonium, electric organ and synthesizers. In the fifth track, the piece is reworked into an atmospheric piano-led song sung by Vargkvint with lyrics by artist Anna Salzmann, who created the paintings that first inspired the project. Finally, Josh Semans closes out the collection with a brief but beautiful reprise.

This collection of recompositions shines a light on the unique talents of its contributors and, like a kaleidoscope, fragments of the original piece are ever-present but always shown in a new light. Hiding (Reworks) comes out on the 3rd of March, featuring artwork by Anna Salzmann and graphic design by Celia Bayo.

Capistrano Birds and Holden Caulfield Encounter(1950)!!!!Hi SC...My Name is Holden Caulfield. i used to be a kind loving sensitive human being..i was naive in my understanding of this world around me..i am still a little naive but now have a tectonic disdain and revulsion for Phony Qualities in The 'Establishment' and the world in General....Let me explain how i became so cynical and Resentful but in a way, so free from this technocratic slavish  surfdom...i had been convalescing at a hospital or sanitarium in southern California, when a met these musicians, i think they were Swallows from Capistrano!..well something like that..they were being treated for exhaustion, What filled me with curiosity was this song they were singing at the time  Called 'Catcher in The Rye'..i became obsessed with this song and the contents of what 'Catcher in The Rye' was trying to convey..something clicked in my mind!! one day i politely asked the birds what inspired them to write such a song?....they suddenly stopped playing, looked up and replied," You did Holden Caulfield!" so shocked and bewildered at this revelation,i kept silent and walk away..that night was spinning, going over and over in my head Catcher in the rye, it was you Catcher in the rye, it was you!!!..i'm Crazy!!this is crazy over and over...the next morn i wanted an explanation from These Capistrano's..but they had vanished..without hesitation i asked one of the resident  nurses where these Birds had disappeared too..She turned to me and said.."just take your medication Holden, try not to think about them so much!!  you do know they are just a part of your vivid imagination! that's why you are here...Now why don't you go and have a nice sleep...no more of this 'Catcher in the Rye' song and The Capistrano Birds"..at this moment an abhorrent despicable hatred towards conformity and control was like an alarm bell sounding off!!...from then on i became alternately depressed, confused, angry, anxious, perceptive, bigoted, resentful, thoughtful, kind, and horny. To put it simply, The Birds Had Set me Free..or did they? well Dr J. D. Closer To Closure is a song from Jherek Bischoff's forthcoming album Cistern, out July 15th on The Leaf Label. 
Cistern is an album inspired by time Bischoff spent improvising in an empty, two-million-gallon, underground water tank, with a 45-second reverb decay. The unique acoustics of the space forced Bischoff to slow down and adapt his compositional approach - something which, unexpectedly, brought him back to his childhood, and the slow-pace of life he experienced growing up on a sailboat.
