Elle Hermansen – Ellemusic – was born in the small Canadian town of Strathroy, Ontario, hardly a score ago.

At the early age of 12, she started writing and producing her own music. The quiet countryside didn't offer many distractions, and she spent her time laying down beats and touring with a pop group; touching on greatness, but disbanding before a proper breakthrough.

Her dark and haunting voice echoes love stories and ghostly dreams, transformed into deep and mesmerizing songs. Her first album release, "Love In Composition", was a collection of her favourites among all the songs she's worked on and produced over the years.

At 27 years young, you might witness this old soul with a microphone in one hand and tea-cup in the other. Ellemusic is ready to take on music at a whole new angle, with fresh determination.

Heavy Hearts – the fourth release from London, Ontario duo The Marrieds – is a departure from their previous records and explores a more musically melancholy side of the couple. The record still carries on a melodic and wistful folk tradition they established with their much-loved Snow Song Trilogy EP (2011), their self-titled debut CD (2011), their nationally-acclaimed Saving Hope (2013) and its celebrated follow up Fire In The Flame (2016).

Jane Carmichael (vocals, ukulele) and Kevin Kennedy (vocals, guitar) are indeed a married couple. They became The Marrieds in December of 2010, when they posted three snow day songs on YouTube during London’s infamous “Snowmageddon” of that year. The songs were viewed over 10,000 times in just a few days, and captured the attention of CBC radio, which made them the Sound of the Day across Canada.

The Marrieds are known for their “folk-country sound filled with playful lyrics and sweet harmonies” (Lori Mastronardi, The London Free Press). They have played for audiences across Canada, winning praise for their songwriting, performances, and charm. They have shared the stage with luminaries including Kathleen Edwards, Rose Cousins, Bahamas, Danny Michel, Lennie Gallant, Ian Thomas, Tommy Cash, Fluke Holland, and many others.

The Marrieds won Folk Music Ontario’s 2019 “Songs From The Heart” Competition in the Roots Category for their song, “Reason,” and in 2017 a Jack Richardson London Music Award in the Folk/Roots Category, as well as a nomination for Video of the Year for “A Girl Said Yes.” In 2014, they won in the same category and also picked up the CHRW Juried Local Album of the Year Award. Other nominations include being on the short list for Folk Music Ontario’s 2017 Recording Artist of the Year, 2014 Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award Finalist, Canadian Folk Music Awards Vocal Group of the Year (2014), and the Toronto Independent Music Awards in the Folk/Roots category (2016, 2012) and Best Music Video (2016).
