About the CD:
For the 20th episode of the Classic Mix CD Series we asked friend of the show and fellow north east lad Mr Ian Blevins to recommend his favourite all time classic disc. Being one of the most talented selectors and dj's you will likely ever hear... Ian came back to us with what is a truly exceptional 'Choice' and it stands out to him simply by being the most outrageously good CD he always remembered. We've played this 4 times already and see where he's coming from. It features tracks such as Mission Control's 'Outer Limits', the dark lyrics of Tony Cook's 'On The Floor', the outrageously fun Hugh Masekela's 'Don't Go Lose It Baby' and the famous 'The Whistle Song' by Frankie Knuckles.

You can catch Blev closing the summer season at his We Love, Space residency in Ibiza where he spins on the Premier Etage every weekend. As well as a selection of other gigs around the island. Outside of the summer you can find him running his excellent 'That Old Chestnut' night in Newcastle as well as gigging all round the world. So our good friend Allie Williams recommended this CD ages ago and it's taken a while for us of get it of him... (or in this case not!) so we bought it ourselves. As fellow huge Derrick Carter fans it's safe to say this is another excellent mix cd and takes it's well deserved place in The Classic Mix CD Series. Barbarella's near Tisno in Croatia is a truly open air club modelled on the great original 1970 & 80s outdoor venues from Italy and Ibiza like Amnesia, Peter Pan and Baia Degli Angeli. The hot starry nights suit a mix of balearic, disco and house music and it was an honour to open for Kerri Chandler at this year's Electric Elephant festival.  

Here you have my full live session recorded between 2-4am on July 7th 2016.

About the CD:
002 of the Classic Mix CD Series and yet another absolute stand out classic. After getting into house at around 15, I guess my only source of info was Danny Rampling's seminal LGDP (Love Groove Dance Party) Saturday nights on Radio 1. However I can't remember Carter getting much coverage on there, yet he, much like Danny Tenaglia seemed to have a level of legend unlike most. This CD cemented my love of house music with an all might smash in the face. The tempo, the bass, the disco, the filters, and fucked up vocals... this was heavyweight. Nothing could compete at the time. I'll always remember driving to college with my 2 nerdy class mates and insisting they played this CD in the car. I'm raving in the back and they are like "What the fuck is this shit, turn it down!". It's with immense pleasure that DJ's like Sneak and Carter seem to be booking all the massive clubs and parties again. I'm not so keen on the whole 'I'm a House Gangster' vibe... but this is as bad as it gets.
