About the CD:
So back in the day Deep Dish were one of those mythical dj partnerships we didnt get to see too much in the UK but were held up there with the likes of Danny Tenaglia and of course the UK god's that were Sasha and Digweed. Label bosses of the excellent Yoshitoshi records and regular faces on the legendary Global Ungerground cd's. Although this disc doesn't go down as an all time favourite for me it does define the late 90's and some great times clubbing which is certainly enough to get into the series.

About the CD:
This out of all my mix CD's will likely bring back the most clubbing memories for the majority of my friends. It's hands down one of the greatest mix CD's of all time, a double pack of Sasha at his absolute peak, he was untouchable, worshipped like no other and unrivalled around the 1996-2000 era in the majority of opinions. It defined a period of clubbing that had 50 Sunderland dance heads on a bus filling up half of the main room at Sasha's, Craig Richard's and Lee Burridge's 'Tyrant' night, at the Bomb in Nottingham. Which still holds strong as the best clubbing experience for most of us. It was legendary times, and this is a legendary mix CD.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the famed Wiggle party (thrown in London's Fabric Nightclub along his partners Nathan Coles & Evil Eddie Richards), Housepitality welcomes the taste maker himself: Terry Francis. 

At Housepitality we make a point to bring you music that reflects the old school, the cutting edge, and all of the relevant artists in between who keep underground music spinning. Terry Francis is an important figure in the history of the music we love, a truly groundbreaking artist who has shaped the music we love in more ways than can be described in a few words. 

We take the "tech house" sound for granted nowadays and often people just call it "house,” but in fact there was a time when there was a very clear distinction between house and techno music. Terry Francis is an artist recognized for breaking the barriers and redefining the underground sound by bridging the gap between house, techno, dub and minimalism. All of this has gone on at the Wiggle party at Fabric for 20 years where Terry and his partners reset underground house music permanently. 

What a ride... We are VERY proud to bring you Terry and the Wiggle vibe to our underground Wednesday night party, to our extremely worthy crowd.

About the CD:
002 of the Classic Mix CD Series and yet another absolute stand out classic. After getting into house at around 15, I guess my only source of info was Danny Rampling's seminal LGDP (Love Groove Dance Party) Saturday nights on Radio 1. However I can't remember Carter getting much coverage on there, yet he, much like Danny Tenaglia seemed to have a level of legend unlike most. This CD cemented my love of house music with an all might smash in the face. The tempo, the bass, the disco, the filters, and fucked up vocals... this was heavyweight. Nothing could compete at the time. I'll always remember driving to college with my 2 nerdy class mates and insisting they played this CD in the car. I'm raving in the back and they are like "What the fuck is this shit, turn it down!". It's with immense pleasure that DJ's like Sneak and Carter seem to be booking all the massive clubs and parties again. I'm not so keen on the whole 'I'm a House Gangster' vibe... but this is as bad as it gets.

002 - Mixmag presents - Derrick Carter 'The Cosmic Disco' (1997)

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
