So our good friend Allie Williams recommended this CD ages ago and it's taken a while for us of get it of him... (or in this case not!) so we bought it ourselves. As fellow huge Derrick Carter fans it's safe to say this is another excellent mix cd and takes it's well deserved place in The Classic Mix CD Series. This was recorded live at my monthly 'Keep It Unreal' residency in Manchester, plying mostly vinyl with a couple of cds thrown in there too. The venue at the time was the Music Box, a sweaty, dark basement, which is now a Tesco. Listening back, I can feel the atmosphere, the heat, and a room full of lovely people enjoying the music. Now that same room is full of stock assistants & chilled celery. Oh well! We have since moved the night to Band on the Wall, and will be celebrating the 15th year of Keep it Unreal in June 2014.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
