Love the fact that you can immediately tell this was mixed using vinyl...  Bought this off the shelf back in the day. Recently found the CD shell without the disk in it. Really glad to find this on soundcloud.

It is hard to see where Uruguay’s Michelle ends and her machines begin, they are an extension of her. Her ability to convey such emotion and meaning with the use of hardware is so impressive but hardly surprising given that Nicolas Lutz prizes her abilities. With two solo EP’s on My Own Jupiter and a track on Lutzifer she is clearly on to a good thing. The fact that her first major release was the 2 x 12” EP on My Own Jupiter also points to a star in the making. A key figure in London’s underground scene, Harry has been a festival favorite for years, consistently delivering standout sets with his signature style. Known for his deep record collection and evolving sound, his approach both in the booth and the studio reflects a broad range of influences.

This mix takes you through ambient, tribal, broken beat, house, and tech house, showcasing Harry’s versatility and careful curation. It’s a reminder of why his sets at Gottwood stand out year after year.

SlapFunk co-founder Samuel Deep carries the baton for DIM319. Known for his love of pumping, dancefloor-focused house and garage, the Utrecht born artist swaggers and swings through nearly two hours of peak-time material for his first podcast in five years.

Outside the booth he's known for clocking seriously impressive marathon times, making music with his brother as Ingi Visions and being one of Amsterdam's warmest and humblest characters. Thanks for this vintage mix and see you in Tisno Sylvestro.

The singular brand of house music that Taylor Freels produces as Liquid Earth is uniquely transatlantic, infusing the rhythmic sensibilities of London and Berlin with the sun-soaked serenity of his native California. Part '80s sleaze, part '90s deepness, part '00s wiggle, Freels makes dance music cocktails that pop like a twist of lime hitting seltzer. Melodic, crisp, and always refreshing, each track by the California-native is singularly recognisable as he refashions vintage sounds for the clubs of tomorrow.

Under his most recent alias, Liquid Earth, Freels has been pushing, as Resident Advisor put it, "tech house with a twist." His state-of-the-art analog grooves emerged from the ether fully formed in 2019 with some of the deepest basslines and crunchiest melodies out there. Freels' squigly take on contemporary house and techno always comes primed with a dose of California sunshine. 

Carrying on the legacy of storied California predecessors like Halo and Hipp-E, he's been swivelling heads and moving bodies with releases on labels at the vanguard of the underground, like Kalahari Oyster Cult and Is/Was sub label TerraFirm, collaborations with Tornado Wallace as Dinnervisions, and a remix of his starry-eyed, "Scope Zone" by Youandewan landed him notoriety among the scenesters alike. 

More than just a producer, Freels knows how to pack a punch behind the decks, moving from classic West Coast Breaks to UK tech house with aplomb and mastery. His bookings and podcasts have been piling up like hot cakes with best-in-class mixes for the likes of Honey Soundsystem, Butter Side Up and Faciendo and DJ appearances from Dimensions Festival to Panorama Bar.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
