Joe Delon loves music. You might think that would (or should) be self-evident in someone who DJs for a living, but the electronic music world would be a better place if everyone cared and thought as much as he did. In addition to being an increasingly in-demand DJ, he runs a stellar label, Welt Discos and moonlights as a music writer, with a beloved Substack newsletter that he usually updates twice a week. A blend of touring DJ travelogue and mix recommendations, it's a rich source of information and music from an artist with a warm, friendly voice—and perhaps more importantly, impeccable taste.

It's that taste that has endeared him to many dance music fans around the world over the last few years, developing a dedicated fanbase who greet every new mix with bated breath (including, hopefully, this one). He's something of a record digger, but not in the clichéd way—he just loves to find records new and old full of melody, springy rhythms and a generally quirky, positive vibe. The music he selects often has an '80s tinge to it, even when it's not from the '80s, but it's hard to pin down what he plays, both because his sets are so unpredictable, and because it wouldn't be fair.

His RA Podcast, as he explains below, is meant to sum up his last year of DJing, a carefully put together selection of favourites from 2022 (meaning records he played that year, not that came out last year). As always, it's a mix of familiar and far-flung records, mixed with Delon's breezy, unique style. Part of the reason why people have come to love his DJing so much is that it just kind of puts a smile on your face. Listen and you'll see.

From time to time Fortunea Records gives us the chance to highlight and welcome new faces. And this one is Petals In Sound!

Louise Baldwin is a UK-based producer and DJ. After over a decade of living, working and partying in South East London, she relocated to Crosby in Liverpool. Following a number of years experimenting with music production, she finally found her groove during the 2020 Covid lockdown. In October 2020, she released under her moniker the well-received debut EP 'Palace’ on Boyanza Records, gaining support from the likes of NTS Radio and the Sloth Boogie Radio Show. Many releases on labels such as Closer To Truth, Dirt Crew and Inhale Exhale followed.

Louise playfully attacks the fabric of deep house, pushing and pulling the genre into modern territory with clever and precise production techniques. And now she will release her first vinyl record on the Austrian imprint. The ‚Days‘ EP includes 4 original tracks and a remix by the Vienna-based dj and producer Dzc.. Hypnotic rhythms and well crafted deepness defines this record.

Petals In Sound’s ‚Days’ EP will come out on december 19th. All tracks have been mastered by Patrick Pulsinger. The vinyl is limited to 200 copies and there will be no repress!

Pascal has earned his stripes over the past 25 years courtesy of an array of impressive releases and high profile gigs in some of the worlds most notorious clubs, be it Ageha/Tokio, Space/Ibiza, Robert Johnson/Offenbach or Watergate/Berlin. Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
