this came with a magazine i got sent in prison, when i got out i the cd was waiting for me. the cover looked cheesy to me so i didnt listen to it till one day, i had nothing to jam to and iwas making rounds bumpin of course, and i was a... believer.

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and features many styles of electronic dance music. It was originally the brainchild of Eddie Gordon, the producer of the show from the first broadcast in 1993 to 2001. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule. It is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

This the brainchild of Aston from the Freestylers, Martin Krafty Kuts and Lee from Plump DJS.
Years of djing, working on music and generally being good friends they decided to combine forces and came up with their new act  "King Of The Beats"
The concept being all 3 of them have various styles, skill sets and such an eclectic taste that it would be a kaleidoscopic entity of good music and fun times.
As you will hear in this brand new DJ mix they’ve captured that vibe and whether you’re at home, in your car, kitchen or at the gym, it will leave you with a big smile on your face and craving for more.

King Of The Beats is starting a new night at the Arches in Brighton.  A new club called Water Bear & catch us at various clubs & Festivals around the world in the coming months !

Krafty Kuts - Old To The New Volume 1

Had a blast playing on the Mog at Airpusher's 10th annual Steampunk Masquerade at Public Works. It was especially gratifying to move from boucey booty breaks into electro and then flip the tempo for some drum & bass before bringing it back down to breaks for the next DJ. 

The is my 2+ hr warm up set—my actual set was much much MUCH shorter, but I captured this one to share bc more music is MOAR MUSIC!  It also includes several of my original bootlegs and mashups, including the first track.

Cut La Roc is a name affiliated with the formidable rise of Skint and Big Beat in the mid-‘90s. He served over the worldwide tours, was a staple of the Big Beat Boutique in our hometown of Brighton, and released some of the most classic Big Beat productions to date, including Hip Hop Bibbedy Bop Bop and Post Punk Progression. 

Currently now running record label & DJ agency, Rocstar, La Roc dug out a special mix lifted from the Breeze Block series featured on Mary Anne Hobbs’ show on BBC Radio 1 in 1998. The perfect way to look back on what a contribution he made to the scene;

Originally recorded by BBC Radio 1 UK and aired on the Annie Nightingale show back in 2006 this mix showcases the diversity of well known DJ's Krafty Kuts & A Skillz. Their back to back LIVE DJ sets have become legendary and this one is no exception, recorded at the One World Snowbombing Special 2006 in a unique environment basically on top of a mountain playing all the tracks we love and know. Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
