About the CD:
For the 20th episode of the Classic Mix CD Series we asked friend of the show and fellow north east lad Mr Ian Blevins to recommend his favourite all time classic disc. Being one of the most talented selectors and dj's you will likely ever hear... Ian came back to us with what is a truly exceptional 'Choice' and it stands out to him simply by being the most outrageously good CD he always remembered. We've played this 4 times already and see where he's coming from. It features tracks such as Mission Control's 'Outer Limits', the dark lyrics of Tony Cook's 'On The Floor', the outrageously fun Hugh Masekela's 'Don't Go Lose It Baby' and the famous 'The Whistle Song' by Frankie Knuckles.

You can catch Blev closing the summer season at his We Love, Space residency in Ibiza where he spins on the Premier Etage every weekend. As well as a selection of other gigs around the island. Outside of the summer you can find him running his excellent 'That Old Chestnut' night in Newcastle as well as gigging all round the world. About this CD:
This episode features a cd which further cemented my love of all things Groove Aramada, especially their earlier work. The unforgettable intro of 'Fly Me To The Moon' sets up a mix which flows between house, soul, disco and hip hop with ease. It was another education into all things 'eclectic' although that word does get on my tits some what. It's just 'playing whatever great music you feel like' isn't it.

Special shout out the the inclusion of Mr. Fingers - Can You Feel It, which I'm sure holds a special place in everyones heart and sets up the ending for another brilliant CD. (Not forgetting a nice bed time story ending from Patrick Moore). So turn it up, and enjoy the mix!

So our good friend Allie Williams recommended this CD ages ago and it's taken a while for us of get it of him... (or in this case not!) so we bought it ourselves. As fellow huge Derrick Carter fans it's safe to say this is another excellent mix cd and takes it's well deserved place in The Classic Mix CD Series. back to basics // 20th Birthday // 26th November 2011

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

About Gareth:
