Cleaning up the studio can reveal some treasures! Bumped into a whole bunch of MiniDiscs recorded at the infamous FOOD CLUB in Leuven and Brussels where I was one of the resident DJ's. I have to share this with you of course!

Here's a recording from May 2002 starting early in the night at The Lounge venue.

As always it's great to connect from music heads all around the world. Saudi DJ Baloo has been playing music since the mid 90s, inspired by his older brother, Khaled’s journey into house music. Finding his roots in late the 90s east coast US Underground house scene which has gone onto influence him ever since. Baloo always brings that deep, dirty groove tinged vibe laced with disco, tech, and funk notes. Thanks for the mix, it's superb.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

About Gareth:
Digital creative type, gamer, music lover and occasional DJ. Currently living between Dubai & Seoul after setting sail from Sunderland in 2010.
