His dancefloor wuz alwayz jam pack with a sea of shirtless men enjoying their freedom through tha muzik Mr. Rauhofer delivered.

This is a very special tape for me... Not only is Junior my musical mentor & friend... but thee DJ that inspires me to keep pushing on in this DJ game that I take so serious & passionate about. To watch Junior play was always a treat for me... though at times hard cause I always love watching him work his crowd but I had to take breaks from the DJ booth 2 hit that dancefloor & let all my emotions out.
The cool thing about that, I was able 2 bring my daughter 2 some of his events with me 2 experience Junior's magic... & yes it truly was magic.
Anyhow, this is Junior live from NYC's Club Exit back in 2001.

Rama Archive - This is the beginning of another part of Rama, The Archives. Digging Special Music, stories and Knowledge from the NYC Club Scene and other like-minded nightlife from around the globe. First, this special 3-hour set was recorded at the Iconic Crobar NYC in 2004. Straight from Tom Stephan's personal Archive (AKA Superchumbo) we are thrilled to share it with you, to enjoy and prepare yourself for the first Berlin Rama.

Phantom Sheriffs - Where Are You (Et On XTC Mix) -2000

“Strays (Life in Wartime remix)” reworks the original mix, that appeared on dutch-canadian electronic music producer apaull’s December 2023 debut album, Fought & Won. This 8-track debut LP was executive produced by Abe Duque and is on the furnace room records label. This track started off as a mix created by apaull for use in his DJ sets and has now been produced as its own standalone remix track.

This track explores the proliferation of war, in the Middle East and Europe, that we now find ourselves in and offers dated but still applicable (diplomatic) solutions including : “We need to negotiate, not as victims.” 

Musically, in addition to pervading vocal samples, the track has been shortened, from the original mix, and new drum and percussion features have been added to add some groove and danceable energy.

The cover painting is by Paul van der Werf (i.e., apaull). The cover “Strays” lettering is by famed Brooklyn based artist Al Diaz (bio below). Al was selected because of his unique art and as an ode to counterculture and what should be its confluence with art. “Al Díaz's career spans five decades. At 15 he was the recognized subway graffiti artist known as "BOMB-ONE." His friendship and collaboration with schoolmate Jean-Michel Basquiat on SAMO®... (an Avant-garde graffiti project), and the iconic hip-hop record, "Beat Bop" are noted in contemporary art history. His mixed media work is shown and collected internationally. “

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

Tom Stephan is an artist who truly marches to his own drum. The US-born UK-based DJ has been in-demand internationally for well over two decades. Tom has headlined the world's most highly regarded clubs from the Ageha in Tokyo to Zouk in Singapore, parties from Alegria NYC to Urge Miami, and mega- festivals from G Circuit Bangkok to Pervert Barcelona. Tom currently holds residences at Discover Tokyo, Hydrate Chicago, Masterbeat LA, Matinee Barcelona, Pervert San Francisco, Rapido Amsterdam, Roast London, and Urge Miami.
In the studio, he's among the most accomplished, with a discography of original and remix work that includes 20 Billboard Number One’s, and reads like a who's-who of global dance music producers: from Basement Jaxx to Beyoncé, Major Lazer to Missy Elliot. Most well known for his “Superchumbo” moniker, Tom’s sound was born out of the NYC after-hours scene and has now merged with his home base in East London.
