An audiovisual set for Currents.fm’s “COMMON Multiverse Initiative” streaming festival in March 2021. I sourced video clips from around the internet and created a collage exploring ideas of decomposition & regeneration set to a matching DJ set, drawing inspiration from Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing’s book "The Mushroom at the End of the World".

DxH 26 - John Plaza

More than pleased to welcome producer/Dj & artist Minjoon, based in Korea. Minjoon displays a mix between deep, subterranean, pretty dark sound at times  traversed by more luminous strokes. This gives his audience the feeling of being pulled into a dark tale with sonic doors opening on rooms filled up with sun. This contrast transpires more in his sets whereas his techno prods have a more direct approach. It's this tension created by seemingly opposed ideas/concepts (familiar Versus Unfamiliar and in his own words, ambiguity of colors when it comes to visual work) that form his current signature, aside from a strong interest for primitive sounds. 

"To me, the word 'primitive techno' is based on the primitive senses of humans. Literally, rythms that can be found in folk cultures, such as traditional korean instruments, Mongolian traditional 'Humei' sound, or ancient Nordic chants. It englobes both the magical and dark sensibilities inherent to 'modern electronic techno' ". 

Minjoon also works as a designer/artist & podcast curator for Artscope. After releasing on Charybdis, KVLTÖ, Artscope (...) he keeps exploring and developing his vision. Thank you Minjoon for your dedicated work <3 We wish you all a nice trip :-)

"Since 2017, Minjoon has been fascinated by the joining of his painting awareness and primitive techno. His theme is to find an ambiguous balance based on the extreme paradoxes of 'Unfamiliar familiar. Ambiguous colors are not a visual sense, but appeal to another sense of energy.
Minjoon is also currently working as a designer/artist at Artscope. After his first debut EP in 2021, he's been continuously developing his sound".

Sound researcher in the studio, chaos creator on the dancefloor our next podcast comes from @d-leria aka Giuseppe who started his DJ carrier over 20 years ago in 2001. In the early stages, he was focused on playing Hardcore, achieving international success, and playing at performing at major festival lineups. In 2014 he encountered a new and unfamiliar sound realizing that this was what he had long been desiring. D-Leria was born from this experimentation and started a whole new journey. At first, he began releasing independent EP's that developed the intentions of his very own label called Delirio. Artists such as Stanislav Tolkackev, Simone Giudice, Retina.it, Key Clef, and more were all hosted on several occasions on his label; all there to spread the same message, hard groove on vinyl. In September 2017 he moved to Berlin to find new ideas and to develop his album "Driving to Nowhere" which took him five years but became his most memorable work yet. The sound immediately gained the attention of many artists such as Shifted, Donato Dozzy, Svreca, Neel, Marco Shuttle, Reeko, Psyk, Refracted, and many more. Furthermore, this paved the way for his later recordings on labels such as Avian, Semantica, Non Series, Camera Magmatica, Aura Dinamica, and more which have given him international recognition for D-Leria.

In the vast cosmos, a solitary traveller surrendered to the hypnotic allure of deep Techno. Immersed in pulsating rhythms, his mind transcended into abstract realms. A luminous labyrinth materialized—a web of pathways bathed in vibrant hues, where time dissolved into the eternal flow of bassline echoes. Journeying deeper, he encountered a surreal garden where Techno melodies bloomed as flowers and swayed as trees, forming a harmonious tapestry of colours and sounds. Ascending to a mountain peak, he became enveloped in ethereal clouds that whispered ancient secrets while the bassline resonated with the universe's heartbeat. He witnessed a grand spectacle at its zenith—a tapestry of energies intertwining, creating a celestial dance of light and sound. Descending to an ocean of rhythm, he found himself weightless, embraced by waves of sonic energy. His essence fused with the pulsations, dissolving the boundaries between self and cosmos. As the Techno faded, he returned to the physical realm, forever expanded by those abstract landscapes. Welcome to another hypnotic journey, in this case by @jovz-prod.

He keeps on serving his weirdly addictive cocktail, mixing deep atmospheres and resonating harmonics with crispy textures and sharpened drums, to give out in each of his new sets a surprising sonic beverage.

After touring the european scenes with his live act @midnightcafe.bxl, his solo comeback left a mark in the French and Belgian scene with the release of his debut EP, "Encounter", that explored a new psychedelic side of bass music in all of its forms. Usually giving out tribe and psytechno-oriented rhythmic paces, Jovz currently matches his winter slow(er) life arc with moderate BPMs, colder hypnotic techno inspirations, for a comforting musical journey that would cure any seasonal hypothermia.
