it's with broken sonorities that Atoloi unveils this 7th podcast. An ambient opening followed by pulsating rhythms and tribal drum and bass to wrap up.

"As a devotee of nature, I explore sounds creating a mellow amalgam of layers using over-reverberated synths, field recordings, and self-created samples. Not choosing the club-oriented way as a first calling, instead, my productions search for other depths, in which the listener can get lost while getting submerged by heavy-grained noises and evocative instrumental compositions."

Nils interest in music started at a very early age where he started out playing guitar, bass and drums, and then he fell in love with techno music in his mid-20s. He started DJ-ing only a couple of years ago, and he's already played at various techno events around Norway and Oslo. Nils strives to create a unique atmosphere and sound every time he gets behind the decks as he gets the dance floor grooving and lost in the music. 

Nils also happens to be the Head of Sustainability and Stage Builder at the brilliant Monument festival.

Our next episode comes from a very special sound lover called arkadiusz. He created a wonderful podcast for us, which disturbs the neighbours at a very smooth pace. His musical direction can be described as "hypnochill", which we  can fully understand after listening to the set.  

But we did not expect something different than good music for this episode. Why? arkadiusz. runs the "Afterhour Sounds" channel on Soundcloud, which has been firmly anchored in the scene as a seal of quality for a very long time.

Showcasing the spanish « savoir-faire » of hypnotic, ambient, experimental & underground techno, A. Caballero, based in Sevilla, carved his sound through qualitative, beautiful releases on spearhead-labels (Agos, Oslated, Secuencias Temporales, Circular Limited, Ritualism Records, Crescent London..) ——  Same way he's delivered a serie of mixes offering a collection of unique journeys into his deeply nature-influenced world. The organic feel slowly builds power and gets upheld through musical unawaited turns.. allowing listeners to navigate the producer/Dj's mind with constant curiosity. The overall feel is warm, and the body oscillates between different rythms. 

Don't forget checking Doctrina Natura's last freshly released material (amongst others: on Ritualism / As well as a remix on Space Textures).

Its been a year since the last instalment of our Appian mix series. This time something very special from Bas Dobbelaer based in Amsterdam. Bas has a beautiful ultra deep track called "Coincidence" on our latest and soon to be released VA - Illaunamid EP [APPIAN014]. 

For this stunning mix he has expertly weaved together a group of tracks that we can really identify with here at Appian Sounds.  With subtlety and depth and with Dub at their core they fuse together to form a journey that we hope will last the test of time.

At the genesis of his career, Agonis has already been invited to share his vision on some of the most exalted stages in dance like The Labyrinth Festival in Japan or Organik Festival in Taiwan.
Co-Founder of Amenthia Recordings and producer in his own right, Agonis is a pivotal piece to the ever more discernable homegrown Basel sound, a sound that maintains a persistent optimism unusual in to the otherwise tenebrous Techno genre. Ambient works and solid club cuts are lined with pop-music hooks that quickly worm their way into the memory and spur on celebration between dancers.
