This is a mix I did when I was inside a dream while I was dreaming about a DJ mix inside a dream

How Did We Get Here

The drumfunk champion is back with his latest explosion of drums. He turns his drums back to the atmospheric side of sounds starting with the opener 'Alpine' with intricate break-work, hard-hitting bass stabs juxtaposed with sublime Jazz licks. Rapport starts with haunting pads before his trademark breaks twist and turn into a hundred patterns as ethereal piano twinkle gracefully in and out. The title track hits the listener next; a high-octane ride into chopped breaks, heavenly strings and opulent piano melodics before the EP ends on the beautiful 'Set Free' as the hard rhythms delicately face off with chilled out pads and rhodes and infectious vocals to complete this latest set of drumfunk paradise.

This session starts out dark and deep before soaking in some 93 hardcore vibes around the 35min mark. Later in the set, it’s back to the 1994 futuristic retro vibes to close things out.  For the sake of that ‘93 nostalgia, I included some Belmont Tunnel images.  For those who don’t know, in Los Angeles, the old Belmont Tunnel / Toluca substation and train yard was an epicenter for West Coast graffiti and also home to one of the earlier Jungle parties in Los Angeles circa 1993. "Why did the ape get lost in the jungle? The mix is kinda a two-parter, first I had a thought of showcasing the direction Ed Rush steered from hardcore era to jungle - my absolute favorite sound of the years '92-94 that eventually built up to form No U-turn crew. While I started to pile up the records there just ended up being too much good stuff at hand to not to play out so... as usual, the original idea evaded and rest of the mix consists of vibey flava tunes that bring the adequate pressure to par up London Zoo standards. One take, all vinyl, brock out, heppoi ja junglee init // achzoo"
