Slinking out from the inky shadows of the Adelaidean night, synth-pop trio SKIES dish up their glitchy, sanguine new single ‘Speed Boy’, produced by Steven Schram (San Cisco, The Cat Empire, Paul Kelly).

Following the critical success of SKIES’s self-produced releases ‘Call for My Heart’ and ‘Too Young’, ‘Speed Boy’ wants things to get personal. There's no shyness here. Just a quiet, serpentine confidence. Just restless drums, punchy synths and magnetic vocals. Just a come-hither glance across the dance floor that'd make the Pope blush.

‘Speed Boy’ is a tantalising amuse bouche for what’s to come - and it looks as though SKIES aren't gonna stop moving at their own speed anytime soon, boy.

It’s mad March 2012 in Adelaide and it’s all about The Fringe, party’s and having fun in the hot Adelaide nights. This weeks track is about cherishing your youth while you can. I’m back teaching again and seem to be around a lot of young people for various reasons. I keep thinking to myself – I hope they realise and enjoy what they have in front of them sooner rather than later. 'Our Expectations' also touches on changes in the world and how we will all cope with taking over the world our parents left us.

Our Expectations

A concept within 'the constant' concept this week me thinks. It dawned on me at some point that all the tracks up to this point have been generally individual songs. Why aren't they linked in someway, whether musically or figuratively? So this Week 37 and 38 will be similar in someways and continue a theme throughout both tracks. 

The first theme is a very simple but powerful, good v evil approach with the music moving between quite beautiful and flowing to hard and aggressive and interplays and blends between the two.

The project continues! After the year long project of 52 songs in 52 weeks - completed at the end of June 2012 - a new track every month is the new pursuit. The Constant is full time composer Justin Pounsett's largest musical undertaking yet.
