@Knxwledge is a collage creator. A sample master whose beats sound like someone artfully flicking through a mixture of Sky Movie channel soundbites, YouTube videos and jazz breakdowns. The New Jersey native now lives out in Hollywood right in the epicentre of the West coast beat scene that classes the likes Brainfeeder as contemporaries. Amoeba Records is down the road. Chuck Strangers from Pro Era is practically his neighbour. The Alchemist pops in and out of the area to nab vinyls. It's an environment that Knx has feasted upon to the point where he's 15TB deep in hip-hop tinged instrumentals and a 12" catalogue that reaches into the thousands. But before scooping a half hour of exclusives and archive beats in this week's mix, we found out what Knx likes to put on his feet, his OCD tendencies and underrated rap groups.

As we are getting ready for SXSW we wanted to get you in the spirit. Joe Kay went solo again to keep things simple and focused. He kicked it off with the new Carmack/Esta collab, played some new discoveries/unreleased gems, and then switched up the whole format by letting the live listener selects the music by sending us our requests via our social media networks. What a beautiful thing! For over 2 hours, you had the chance to selects the music, Joe was just the provider! What a great way to collaborate right? Since we will be at SXSW from (March 11-16) there won't be a live Soulection Radio show next week, however, we do have a special guest mix to make up for it. Stay tuned.

This month marks the passing of the lauded rapper Notorious B.I.G. and to honor his legacy, New York resident DJ Finesse debuted a special tribute during DJ Premier's Sirius/XM show "Live From Headqcourterz" on March 8.

The mix showcases Biggie's a capellas paired with Premier-produced beats. While the original tribute was shorter for air-time, Finesse extends the tribute for hip-hop fans here with a special intro by Premier himself.

DJ Premier's "Live From Headqcourterz" airs every Friday night from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sirius/XM Channel 44, Hip Hop Nation. DJ Finesse is a regular guest on the show, filling in for Premier as an on-air mixer.
