Silent Boy

Ladada is Virginia Beach native Josiah Schlater. After years of recording and touring in other bands (MAE, We Are Trees, Jake Clemons), Schlater has now settled into a lively, sun-drenched sound of his own. Taking inspiraton from early Motown and 60's garage rock, he squeezed a drum kit, a couple guitars, a 4-track, and a netbook into a small storage unit and began recording what became Ladada.

It often starts with an incredible break. 
When The Marv discovered Ilaiyaraja's Vikram, she was blown away by the many grooves of this multi talented artist. 
For her third EP, she wanted to pay a tribute to his works from great 70's, 80's and even 90's indian movie scores. 
So she started digging again, carefully selecting breaks and melodies from this extremely prolific composer who was given the title of Ragadevan (King of Tunes). Each sample would be like a unique spice to her special ginger soda recipe.  

So here's the blend : Heavy beats, hip hop with some house twists, big analog bass, oriental breaks, and some secret ingredients that she only knows about. 
You'll be surprised by the maturity of the works of this young female beatmaker, who mastered the boombap science in only a few weeks
Beware, you may experience psychedelic hallucinations: spicy audio sensations, wild animals popping here and there, pastel colors and voluptuous oriental fragrances. 

A wind blows, birds are singing a lullaby, I see goats dancing to Ragadevan's oscillations. Wooo I'm high

Yo so I'm finally 21 and I wanted to share this track with you. It's been sitting on my hard drive for a while, ever since the first EP was released in 2013, and I've been waiting for the right time to put it out. I have to thank Chris aka @Plastician for seeing something in me and taking a chance on me. He's been nothing but supportive and I will always be thankful for that.

I'm playing EDC in like 4 days and I can't imagine what my 15 year old self would think about this all. It's pretty tight and surreal and I'm stoked on it. Hope ur all hyped too. Lots of love!
