Jake Murphy and Daniel Slatton started making music together ten years ago in the garage with a single Sony cassette recorder. Together they have traveled across the United States, playing in sweaty Texas honky-tonks and mysterious mountainside watering holes, performing an average of 120 shows per year. Natural Anthem is their latest project and Super Fan couldn’t wait to sign them having discovered the band by chance via a mistyped YouTube search. 

A debut EP ‘Thread’ is preceded by the release of Paranoid which serves as a great introduction to what to expect from the Fort Worth natives. The song brings to mind the tremolo driven eerie croon of Chris Issak crossed with their hometown alumni White Denim. 

Thread (coming fall 2015) has a sense of immediacy that carries throughout all six echo-dipped tracks – a welcome and refreshing revitalization that is more by default than design. Natural Anthem is more than just a culmination of Murphy and Slatton’s musical influences – it’s their past, present, and future. Natural Anthem harmoniously synthesize folk rock with sixties blues - like a hallucinatory skyline meeting a treacherous mountainside. This is music made equally for night drives through the deserts of West Texas and sunrises on the beaches of the west coast.

Paranoid is released on psychedelic triple colour dipped square 7” on 11.09.15. Each copy is totally unique in colour, these are sure to be an instant sell out.
