The Disco Express: Guest Mix Series

BANANA-CHAN is a house/disco DJ based in Japan. With a background as a bassist and dancer, her style is characterized by groovy and happy sounds, encompassing a wide range of nuances. Currently, she holds a residency at Aoyama Tunnel, a cornerstone of Tokyo's cultural scene.

This week's Guest Mix comes from The Brahma, born and raised in Casablanca, and now based in Berlin.

"This set is a resumé of what defines me. Growing up between north African music and discovering disco during my early age made me keep digging and discovering every day new rhythms. This set combines different languages and continents which make disco more colourful."

Pat is a vinyl loving, eclectic, and adventurous DJ, specializing in disco, house, techno, and all things fun and groovy. Driven by the joy of sharing the music he loves and making people dance, he uses his 8 years experience to ensure a memorable night is had by all. 

As an avid record collector, Pat unearths hidden and forgotten gems with a focus on what will set the dancefloor alight and create lasting memories. Through his residency at Refuge Worldwide radio station in Berlin, he shares his deep passion for music in and outside of the club.

For this mix, Pat brought a bag full of funky and groovy disco and house that created an infectious energy that had Crack Bellmer grooving. Listen back for a two hour journey of classic Disco, 90s & NY House and Deep House.

In the last years, Matóba (Rotterdam, NL) found his love for disco & house. His performances rapidly propelled him in two years onto the bigger stages like Paaspop, Folie Douce and the Onderzeebootloods. Armed with a big smile and a dose of infectious energy, he released his first single on his own label in 2023 named “Your Mind Says?”, marking the start of more releases to come. His sound, best described as “heading to the jungle on rollerskates”, combines afro & tropical percussion with groovy beats and vocals. You can find yourself singing along during his sets thinking, “Do I know this song?”. That’s the power of genre fusions with influences from artists like Dam Swindle, Folamour and Bellaire.

"Having been from Amsterdam, to London and Barcelona, I have always loved going to Disco/House concepts and get inspired with the different grooves within the genre. This was where my festival Stranded was born in The Netherlands. 
This mix pays an homage to an early night club-set in London, which I would play at The Disco Express. Playing this in the studio, imagining myself at their party. Hoping this will happen. Thank you so much for the opportunity❤️ Love, Martijn"

Tiffany Quinn is an energetic DJ, Producer and Radio Host from London, whose diverse sets have secured her bookings at clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe. Tiffany has supported prominent artists such as Melvo Baptiste, Jaguar, Spoony and Crazy P, and performed at major UK festivals including El Dorado, Bournemouth 7s, Wilderness, Secret Garden Party and Westival. Her talent has taken her internationally, with notable debuts at Pacha in Barcelona, Rocket in Milan, Klub Werkstatt in Copenhagen, and upcoming performances in Ibiza and Crete.

This week's Guest Mix comes from Caio Cenci.

This week's guest mix comes from No Boundaries resident and founder, Marley, along with fellow resident danandout. Both share a love of all things Disco and House so it seemed only right for them to do this mix together. Full of edits, soul-infused originals, and some just down right bangers. This mix showcases what it is the No Boundaries crew do best.

This week's Guest Mix comes from Maryag.

Maryag is a DJ and multi-instrumentalist musician hailing from the picturesque landscapes of the Southern Urals. His musical style combines disco, funk, indie music, and house elements to craft a distinctive and memorable sound. Maryag released the "Playing For Time" EP on The Disco Express this summer. This EP features 100% original disco tracks and an amazing remix by Moodena, which was included in The Disco Express's vinyl compilation "The Best of 2024." The "Playing For Time" EP received good reviews from listeners and industry colleagues worldwide.

Maryag recorded a special mix including as new as unreleased disco and house tracks from industry colleagues. This mix is perfect for both dancing and everyday listening.

This week's Guest Mix comes from Msystem & Toxo.

Msystem & Toxo are two Roman producers who love Funk and Disco. Individually they have been working in the field of electronic music for many years.

Msystem has published music with important labels such as "Ultra records, Universal, Stardust Records". Toxo, born as a drummer and with a great need for Groove and Bassline, has shared the decks with many great artists of the House scene, with several dates both in Italy and abroad, and has published music on labels of the caliber of Ministry of Sound.

Andy Wallace aka DJ MBq is a long time figure behind the DJ booth at Melbourne's most venerated nightlife institutions including Revolver Upstairs, Rumbler Bar, Music Room, Angel Music Bar, and The Night Cat. MBq has played support shows for Cody Currie, Athlete Whippet, JKriv, E.Lina, and Marcel Vogel, and is one of the founders of the Jam Hot club night and events brand.

This week's Guest Mix comes from Beavs.

Beavs is an exciting upcoming Bristol-based selector renowned for her deep soulful collection. She brings a unique heat to the dancefloor and plays with an infectious energy and spirit, seamlessly serving up smooth grooves that blend boogie, soul, funk, house, gospel, disco, reggae, highlife, afrobeat, MPB, jazz - and everything in between - from across the globe. This week's Guest Mix comes from Ethical Drift.

Ethical Drift is the persona of enigmatic producer, songwriter & DJ Jonathan Paul. Focused on high energy, bass-forward House music in the studio and club, he wields psychedelic sounds and jazz dissonance with punk rock abandon. 2024's "Nightlife in NYC" EP was well received by the local underground, and supported by countless DJ sets across the city and beyond into New England.
