back story:
i’ve been going to shows at The Warfield since i was 20 years old to experience countless awe-inspiring music moments. performing as the opening act for an iconic band such as Royksopp was definitely a defining moment. in preparation, i went to work, digging deep into my musical archives that would allow me to create a mood that felt appropriate for what would follow, for a venue of concertgoers, not a club or underground party, yet remain distinctly me. i curated an assortment of music and mixed it together on the fly, in the moment, for what felt right. i ended up closing my musical journey with an edit of Sylvester, a San Francisco icon who has inspired me, at an iconic venue that has also lifted me on so many occasions. as this last song played, something propelled me to dance across the stage in celebration of him, this moment, and the profound effect true house music has over you. even when djing on a stage with a sold-out crowd looking on instead of being in a dj booth, usually on the floor with all the dancers. the response was electric, all the positive messages have been incredible.. so here’s that set, in its entirety. hope you enjoy it now as much as then. thank you to all the music family for the support!

"It’s late Saturday Night in the magical wonderland that is the Lightening In A Bottle festival grounds. The main stages are closing down, but there is one place for afterthours house music where the collective electricity is ignited into a dancefloor frenzy known as The Junkyard. Situated on the banks of the lake with the twinkling stars dancing above, I had the honor of putting some of my all-time favorite deep and twisted yet groove-heavy jams into a journey suited for the freaky yet loved-up energy on hand. As per my usual, everything is mixed on the fly and in the moment of what I was feeling from the raucous energy that not only surrounded me in the booth but stretched deep into the far-reaching depths of the dancefloor. Galen @ Lightning in a Bottle 2024

Having grown up in Mallorca, listening to IBIZA SONICA RADIO, it's a real honour to make a guest mix of almost entirely original material (including a couple of unreleased tracks) for When We Dip that was broadcast live on the air (92.4FM in the Balearic Islands) and on the Ibiza Sonica website.

For the entirety of my career up until now, I think I feared playing my own songs in sets and mixes because I felt they were inadequate when compared to what inspired me. I spent so much time trying NOT to listen to electronic music that I developed a void in between what I loved to listen to and what I loved to make. It's only natural to view your work as 'lesser' when comparing house music to the Motown greats. That being said, lately I feel that I've found it in myself to let go and see what I do for what it is - and what it isn't - in turn taking the pressure off for me to live up to these impossible standards that I've set for myself and focus on creating for the love of it.

After finishing this mix I sat in the sunshine and mindfully listened through with a loose ear and an open heart, and I'm happy to say that I AM PROUD of the music I make and that I will do everything I can to continue living a life dedicated to the creation of things I love.
