This year's Shambhala Music Festival marks the 10th year Fort Knox Five has played and the first time we have released a set from one of our favorite places on the planet. It was a bittersweet milestone as the set is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and musical partner Jon Horvath aka DJ Jon H of FK5. We've never felt such an amazing energy in the Fractal and we want to thank the thousands of friends, fans and party-goers that showed up in full force wearing afros, dancing and pumping good vibes for our brother. It was an amazing thing to feel the Shambhalove and we can't thank you enough for such an inspiring experience! This mix introduces Fort Knox Five ft. Qdup's Four Deck set,  which incorporates live mashed up acapellas, fx, original tunes, exclusive mixes and some of our favorite dance floor destroyers.

I remember the exact moment when I first heard @BigWild's music. I was sitting in my room, trading music with Chad (from Lazerdisk). "You have to check out this tune 'Venice Venture'," he vehemently insisted, "it's sooo good." The song was paired with a video comprised entirely of surf footage, setting the vibe with westside Los Angeles overtones and island-though-not-tropical influence. "The guitar riff in the song was actually recorded by his dad." If the music wasn't good enough, the fact that this song was a familial collaboration bolstered my confidence in Big Wild's then-budding career.

I was locked in from that point on. I waited like a kid by the mailbox for the comic book toy I had mailed away for, only that toy was new, truly inspired music from a musician with more potential than most in his class. Since then, he's toured with Odesza and GRiZ, joined Windish Agency and Red Light management, remixed the likes of Hundred Waters and Champagne Drip, and released on Odesza's Foreign Family Collective label. Needless to say, I had a lot of questions about his time on tour, at home, and how his music sounds so good.

The Funk Hunters Proudly Present: A Shambhala Mixtape

This summer we were blessed with the opportunity to premiere our brand new 4-turntable Audio Visual show at Canada's legendary Shambhala Music Festival! 100% of our set was accompanied with live synchronized handcrafted visuals content and nearly all of the remixes, samples, and acapellas you hear within this mix were first turned into video files and then played live during our set on Friday night in The Fractal Forest.

Now home from summer festivals and about to embark on our Fall North American Tour, we've gone back into the studio to recreate the magic found in the forest that night in the form of this downloadable mixtape, so please DOWNLOAD and SHARE away! And thanks for all your amazing support this summer, it means the world to us.
