The EP also includes a NEW Original 'Come On' which myself and J-Trick wrote the kids who love there big heavy bassy drops and Big Proggy builds. This EP is definately one to add to the collection.

Originally aired on May 23, 2013.....J asked me to rock a live set with him at the Dublab Radio Show for their "Proton Drive" Fundraiser.  Following the Funky President's cue, we basically just played anything & everything that we wanted to....The Dynamic Duo was in full effect this day.  Even though this was released already, I thought it would be cool to put it up on my Soundcloud page.  This is what the nice people at Dublab had to say:

Solid Steel (7th February) In Hour 1 we welcome The Gaslamp Killer to start off the show. It's a mix of some of GLK's favourite current alternative groups specialising in the dark psychedelic side of rock and the harder edged beat music that he loves so much. Plus a couple of world psych classics in the middle, from fast to slow around we go, always a narrative journey with GLK.
DK continues with the beautiful collaboration between Debruit & Alsarah and onto the new Mount Kimbie remix for Kelis on Ninja Tune and the current single by Falty DL. Then it's a track from the Actress album Ghettoville and into the dub mix of classic 80's Boogie from Barbara Fowler, before ending with Cottam and Instra:mental from the last few years.

"Mix By Jimmy" features recordings Bambaataa had pressed to acetate for spinning live at shows in the late 70's and early 80's. This mix includes entirely unreleased material along with demo versions of hits like "Looking For The Perfect Beat," "Renegades of Funk" and "Planet Rock. "

I realized last weekend that I had not done a mix since early 2017 and it was about time to bring the series back. So here is Habibi Funk Mix 008 with a selection of vinyl and tapes which were originally released in the 1970s, 1980s, and even as late as late 1990s. We got a couple of previews for material we have licensed and that will drop in the future from artists such as the Golden Hands, Attarazat Addahabia, The Scorpions and Majid Soula. Apart from the that I’m super happy to have Libya covered with 3 tracks, a country about whose musical heritage I didn’t know much outside Ahmed Fakroun obviously. From the obscure to the more known....
