Born in Evanston and raised in the inner city of Chicago, Kat was enriched by the cultural diversity, history, and sophisticated arts and performing arts scenes of Chicago from birth. Though not musically abled herself, her mother was a competitive pianist and violinist and would take her to live music and theater. The first time she was introduced to hip-hop culture was in 2nd grade, soon to follow was House music. At one point her brother and friends had technic turn tables in her house walking distance from Wrigley Field home of the 2016 World Champion Cubs!! 💙❤️
After a Paul Simon Concert in ‘92- Rhythm of the Saints - Kat became intrigued by World Music and began her journey to deep dive into Salsa - Guajuanco, Cumbia and NY’s FANIA All Stars. When she first started dancing Salsa in ‘97 it took awhile until she started the live music circuit. That’s where the 2/3 clave can be seen in real time and mastered. Since it can change quickly in live music this solidified her dancing skills. She currently works as a rental specialist at Fulton Grace Realty and lives in Logan Square managing her rental property, attends church and as many concerts as her little free time allows.
