This is a live all 45 mix made with one turntable and a loop pedal. It was constructed for Red Bull's 45 night on October 27 2008 in LA. This mix includes some cutting room floor ideas from The Hard Sell (DJ Shadow and I on 8 turntables and two loop pedals) and elements from what would later be part of my one turntable/loop pedal live mix CD "Sound Of The Police", which is out now.

Following the Funky President's cue, we basically just played anything & everything that we wanted to....The Dynamic Duo was in full effect this day.  Even though this was released already, I thought it would be cool to put it up on my Soundcloud page.  This is what the nice people at Dublab had to say:

On Friday February 7 2014 as Dj Premier was in Detroit performing at Dilla Day, I was filling in for Premier on his Sirius/Xm radio show "Live From Headqcourterz". Being that it was what would have been J-Dilla's 40th birthday I did an all Dilla set in my second hour honoring the late great Producer/MC/DJ. 
James "Jay-Dee", "J-Dilla" Yancey died in 2006 at the young age of 32 from cardiac arrest after a long battle with a rare blood disease.... 

He was one of the music industry's most influential and respected hip-hop artists.

One of the original turntablists, J.Rocc founded the Beat Junkies in 1992 with Melo-D and Rhettmatic, but has done just as much on his own as in a group setting. He began DJing in the mid 80's with a California group named PSK. Soon after forming, the Beat Junkies became a seminal force in the rise of instrumental hip hop, including core member Babu plus future stars Shortkut and D-Styles.In addition to numerous mixtapes and his own production for Stones Throw releases, J.Rocc has been the DJ for Madlib's live shows since early 2000's, was the 3rd member of Jaylib(Madlib & J Dilla) during the group's live shows, collaborating with Madlib on Beat Konducta Vol.5-6: Atribute To J Dilla and can be seen touring the world solo and with BlackStarr(Mos Def & Talib Kweli)J.Rocc just released full length album, Some Cold Rock Stuf on Stones Throw.

The music and culture in New Orleans is so exquisitely intertwined, that one cannot separate them apart....especially the brass band sound which is directly tied to cultural elements that date back well over 100 years.
 
This is a sampling of some of the sounds of the city that has truly moved my spirit since my first visit to New Orleans for the 2005 Jazz Fest. Here, we've reinterpreted and presented this music in a way that is new and fresh (thanks to a very technically challenging and amazing mix by my good friend and DJ, Frank Foreal), yet still pays proper respect to the culture and the folks that create this music.
 
This is truly a project of passion for me. As a matter of fact, I have so much love for New Orleans, it can be challenging to find a way to accurately translate and explain my feelings for this place...
 
Thus, I found the best way to express my affection is through music and this project, "Let's Go Get 'Em", is my personal love letter to the city of New Orleans.
