With soulful vocals, energetic horns, and a tight rhythm section groove, The Do Rights blend old school sounds with original and contemporary influences.

The Do Rights were formed in New Brunswick in 2010 as an 8 piece instrumental funk group. They featured a 3 piece horn line and full rhythm section from the beginning and played originals and covers influenced by Fela Kuti, James Brown and other afrobeat and traditional funk songs. Playing house parties and live music venues around New Brunswick, the band began to gel and gain a loyal following of people who liked to dance to good music.

In 2011 The Do Rights invited singer Rolonda Franklin to join the lineup and began writing vocal material and performing vocal covers, while retaining some of the instrumentals that gave the band it's personality. Now, in May 2014, The Do Rights are writing and performing songs, recording their first series of releases, and are on rotation at numerous live music venues in New Jersey.

One of the core elements of The Do Rights' engaging sound is our spirit of creativity. 5 of 8 members are writing songs with full horn arrangements. All of our members have different musical backgrounds, from classical tuba performance to touring indie-soul bands or jazz music. All of these experiences influence our original music. My name is Vincent and I'm a saxophonist, audio engineer, and private teacher based in Central Jersey. I have a Bachelors in Music from William Paterson University. I enjoy many kinds of music, but jazz, hip hop, and funk are towards the top of the list.
