The 7th release features Neve: member of The Dreamers crew, he has an important role on everything you listen from this label (A & R and Mastering). He has just released a track on Med School “New Blood 2016” called “Magic Flute”, and now it’s time to come back home to deliver two new pieces of music. Years of experience as a dj made Neve’s sound a patchwork of styles and genres. Old school and new school blend in, while rolling, footwork, jungle, hip-hop and neurofunk mix mercilessly. This variety of sound is reflected in his production:  to make only one ‘type’ of drum and bass is like a musical limit for his open mind.
WAKE UP and I LOVE YOU are the result of the energy that Neve gathers when he djs, mixed with his deep knowledge and interest in drum and bass – jungle classics, hip hop, trap and trip hop. Both the tracks have interesting drum beats, paired with deep hitting bass and joyful atmospheres. Neve is also a specialist in variations along the tracks, you will listen how the whole pieces evolve with a clever use of organic beats and synthetic sounds.

Ever since I first heard this track I knew it was going to be huge... Party Favor really nailed it as he pretty much always does and I decided it was the perfect track for a vocal edit. After playing around with a few, I was finding it REALLY hard to choose the perfect one - so I was like fuck it, and used em all.

A few of the acas sounded pretty dirty but I did my best to clean em up for you, the one that probably sticks out a little to my ears still is Dre's 'nuthin but a G thang' but the sample was just too good to leave out.

Shapeshifter NZ solidify their out-of-this-world status with their sixth studio album Stars, due out on November 4th.

Melding a progressive bass music approach with their definitive core elements - hypnotic electronic textures, barreling backbeats and the driving vocals of P Digsss - Stars pushes their stadium-sized sound to new heights.

Recorded between their New Brighton and Auckland studios, Shapeshifter NZ spent six months writing tunes and ideas before setting down the album at Auckland’s Roundhead Studios with The Upbeats’ Dylan Jones and Jeremy Glenn.

“We ended up with around 100 songs – a mountain of music. Working through them, there were the standouts, songs we all felt really strongly about. We’re ecstatic with the final result and how it’s all come together,” said Nick Robinson (bass/synths/MPC).

That interstellar result includes a tracklisting of 11 expertly crafted tunes - tracks which travel between the summer-time anthem of lead single ‘Stars’ and the cosmic craftings of ‘Her’, to the driving dance anthem ‘Eternal’ and darker corners of ‘Ex Machina’.

It’s cohesive collection which blends their signature heavy soul and explosive drum ‘n bass sound, all the while exploring space-sized synths and electric, energetic, genre-defying avenues.

Their first album since the platinum selling Delta in 2013 – a release that also bore platinum single ‘In Colour’ - Stars marks the welcome return of one of New Zealand’s finest.
