Well I really wasn't going to upload this one as it was just something of a personal challenge but then thought why not? :)

A very talented lady on SC told me that despite all of her great songs she found it IMPOSSIBLE to write a "happy" one with "nice" lyrics. This made me realise that I had never done one either. So here is my first (and probably last) ever attempt! The lyrics might be a bit cheesy but they are what they are :). The lady was right it IS far more difficult :))

Architect - EP

Architect (feat. Taïga) [Halina Rice Remix]

Allston’s Black Lodge is an underground haven for punks and misfits—its walls slathered in bumper stickers and indecipherable sharpie skribbles, its floors littered with the PBRs of weekends past, and its soundtrack provided by two neighborhood legends: Nice Guys and Black Beach.
	The two bands have teamed up for a split 7”, trading blows for a 9-minute psych punk onslaught sizzling up from the basements of Boston. The record was mastered in-house by Black Beach bassist Ben Semeta, boiling down a typical Friday night at Black Lodge to its purest form and encompassing its sound in full stereo.
        It will available for purchase in spring of 2017. The two bands are teaming up to release it through their own one-and-done label they’re dubbing Burner Records, printing a limited 250 copies, half of which will be in a special Coke bottle green vinyl. Ben Cook is, among many other things, the very industrious Young Guv. From acting to writing/producing to playing guitar and screaming in hardcore bands, Guv has done it all and is well on his way to seeing it all as well. After nearly 10 years of releasing singles, flexis and tapes under the Young Guv moniker, 2015 saw the release of the brilliant "Ripe 4 Luv" mini-album. A tour de force of power-pop invention and jangle/fuzz guitar heroics, "Ripe 4 Luv" opened a lot of ears and turned a lot of heads, and picked up a nomination for Canada's Polaris music prize along the way. 

Now, after a rather twisted 2016 of travel, change and discovery, Guv is back with this new single "Traumatic." Recorded at home on trusty 1/4" analog tape, it's a self-reflective and personal audio snapshot that contrasts nicely with the loud 'n' gritty "Ripe 4 Luv." "Traumatic" rides a bubbling programmed groove, blending echo-laden vocals with understated rhythm guitar and a catchy synth hook into a magical new wave roots-pop amalgam. "It Could Be Me" is a classic major chord confection, hearkening back to that cusp-of-the-80s genius of Shoes, Dwight Twilley and Phil Seymour. As always the songs are stuffed with lovely harmonies and heart-stopping melodies, never losing site of power-pop's roots in Buddy Holly, The Beatles and Big Star. 

Both songs are accompanied by videos created by long-time collaborator Tristan CM and represent the first of a series of Young Guv audio postcards that we plan on releasing over the upcoming months. Intentionally checking-out of the increasingly onerous album promotional cycle/circus, Guv is sticking with the single format and releasing new music when he is ready, not when it is deemed to be the correct time to "drop" an "asset." Sounds good to us!

 Oro Swimming Hour; a magical two piece featuring Bristol's own Oliver Wilde and children's book illustrator Nicholas Stevenson (also of Lucky Shivers). The 16 track album mastered by Orchid Tapes Warren Hildebrand is full to the brim with freak-folk anthems, lo-fi bedroom pop and the sound of Elliot Smith summoned to a torch-lit seance.

Penrose Winoa was recorded in the space of five short days in the living room of Oliver's shared house using analogue equipment. If you listen closely enough, amongst the hiss and crackle of the tape fuzz you'll pick up the comings and goings of various housemates as well as Sparklehorse the cat. With no track lasting longer than 3 minutes the album passes by in a breeze whilst inducing the feeling of a pleasantly sticky summer day.

The album is due for release on 28th July on ltd edition splatter effect 12" and also on all the normal digital places, you can pre-order it now from our shop and you'll receive an instant download of two tracks.
