We've started a radio show!

Welcome to the inaugural episode where one of the label founders, The Drifter takes us on a journey through a variety of his current favourites.

Radio is a medium that has had a big influence over all of us throughout our lives. As opposed to a straight up DJ mix, radio shows allow the curator to experiment with different sounds and directions outside of what they might regularly be known for.

This is really the aim of this series, to invite friends to share
different recordings with us and allow them to take it what ever
direction they want. We're excited to get going and hope you enjoy the results.

Maeve Radio 001 - The Drifter

Life Cycling was the first artist album release on Maeve by our dear friend Phil Kieran back in 2019.
The record was widely acclaimed and pioneered by publications like The Quietus and DJs like the late great Andrew Weatherall.
Since its release we have carefully curated 2 remix packages, the second of which sees New York maestro Justin Van Der Volgen paired with label founder The Drifter.

Blossom (The Drifter Beat Remix)

The Drifter is Mark Flynn, an Irish producer, DJ and singer. After an upbringing dabbling in different musical pursuits, from bands and choirs to folk and traditional, a love for electronic music was born.

The Drifter's dj style, like his productions, definitely lean towards the hypnotic, melodic and emotive side of electronic music. No matter what genre he is playing. House, Techno, Disco. He learned his craft from hours of djing in bars and clubs and running clubnights. One such clubnight was Passion Beat, a night he ran in Berlin for over 3 years with his buddy Mano Le Tough. It gathered a loyal, steady following and quickly became known for it's two residents and the guest artists they booked. 
He runs the record label Maeve together with two of his close friends, Mano Le Tough and Baikal. All three share a similar passion for deep emotive music, and the label has quickly become one to watch..

Frau Blau Radio #028 ─ The Drifter

The Drifter returns to Maeve with a bang. This 2-tracker carries a familiar Drifty feel but is a total graduation for the label founder.

Everything sounds better, his voice, the machines, the mix - this is next level. The vocal on title track, "Ultraviolet" has a distinctive darkwave feel, a touch melancholic, but accomplished. Brooding synth bass underpins the track leading the listener into the cosmic abyss, a journey one is only too happy to surrender themselves to. The trip continues with "Avoid The Void", an ironic title given the listeners fate so far. On this cut we lose the melancholy and march straight to the dance floor. Littered with ping pong acid warbles, clipped vocal samples and driving drums, Avoid the Void is a single minded monster.

It may have taken some time for The Drifter to come correct with original work, but after listening to this its hard to argue it wasn't worth the wait.

The Drifter - Red Light Radio 8-6-2018

Heavy Rotations Vol 1 is Maeve's first long player. Releasing a compilation has long been an ambition of the label, however time was the key component in producing a record we could all be proud of. The best laid plans can often fall by the wayside, having a clear idea of what you want to achieve with a record like this changes constantly as you collect the pieces of the puzzle and try fit them together in a way that makes sense.

As well as the label founders we started by also inviting friends that had already released on Maeve, to contribute to the compilation. This was a good starting point as each of those artists are all quite different from one another so we felt it could produce some interesting results. There was no brief, just a blank canvas to contribute something they felt belonged on the label. It was also super important for us to use this record as a platform for lesser known artists to showcase their work.

So after 2 years of planning we finally have an 11 track compilation together which will be delivered as a triple vinyl in early June. It is a record that developed and changed a lot over that period but now is something Maeve is very excited to share with the world.

On May 19th we will launch the record at Funkhaus Berlin with a line up compiled of those who contributed to the compilation.

Pitch Music & Arts Festival 2019

Dublin Digital Radio is back with its second compilation from producers, composers and musicians resident on Europe’s Best Online Radio Station.

The compilation is a reflection of the range of homegrown talent resident on the station and an opportunity for ddr. to showcase the music of the online station’s monthly residents.

All proceeds for the compilation go to Inner City Helping Homeless, a charity dedicated to providing an outreach and advocacy service to those worst affected by Ireland’s spiraling housing crisis.

Exclusive Foreign Guest, Wewerka 'Phasonator (The Drifter Remix)'

Berliners Foreign Guest and Wewerka are next on Sasse's Moodmusic label and contribute the four tracker 'Phasonator', which comes with two original cuts, 'Brooken Reflection' and the EP's title track 'Phasonator', that got the remix treatment from Engyn and Maeve co-founder The Drifter. The latter delivers a rather reduced version of the orginal but still maintain's the vibe and puts a lot of emphasize on the little details that, when overally put together, create a mental quite tooly take, which sounds as if it could soak you into the mesmerization of the a (club) night. With the essential bass line, a lush continuous thunderstorm, Mark's approach certainly features the common The Drifter trademark sound which is topped with darkly influenced synth-sounds that unfold their hypnotizing potential over the course of the track.

Foreign Guest's and Wewerka's EP 'Phasonator' will be released on Moodmusic on December 13th, 2019.

Exclusive Drown ft. Anna Caragnano - Sea On The Moon (The Drifter Remix)

Widely known under Alessio Pagliaroli the Italian-based artists readies a darker and more experimental release under his Drown alias on Milan label and movement Just This. Sea On The Moon is the name of Alessio's return and comes with altogether three takes, the original and a club version from his side as well as a remix from Maeve label-head The Drifter. The latter ups the tempo of the original track and omits the vocal to fully focus on the track's sound-design. Slight congas add warmth to the pad-shaped and cosmic charming approach, which Mark, The Drifter's real name, created. It's safe to say that the arrangement of melodies and sounds have no equal as they follow the pattern of a clear order, sound after sound, step by step. Still emotions are not lost in-between but rather accentuated hence Mark's procedure and turn his approach to a fluent matter told in an impressive fashion.

Drown's EP Sea On The Moon will be released on Just This on March 27th, 2020.
