As you unwind, allow the mellow tunes to guide you into a blissful state, setting the perfect atmosphere for a love journey. Every note reverberates with the essence of romance, drawing you deeper into the mood and inviting you to savor each moment.

This collection, recorded live at Club Alliance in Yokosuka, Japan, captures the raw energy of the crowd that unforgettable evening. You’re about to embark on a sonic adventure, experiencing the music as if you were back in that vibrant club, where the magic of live performance shines through, imperfections and all. From January 1, 1997, this distinctive show toured clubs worldwide, creating a unique bond between artist and audience. The transition to digital recording in 2000 meant the raw essence of those moments was preserved, unedited and genuine, allowing you to feel every beat and vibe just as the patrons did.

These themed parties were a celebration of connection and groove, incorporating three hours of bump-and-grind music starting at 6 PM. Reflecting the intimate and relaxed atmosphere of Quietstorm vibes, attendees could sit back, sip their drinks, and engage in easy conversation before the festivities kicked into high gear. There was something magical about the way DJs masterfully slowed things down, crafting the perfect moments for couples to sway and revel in the rhythm of slow jams. So, kick back, enjoy the party, and allow the sounds to take you on a nostalgic journey that echoes the passion and romance of those cherished nights.

Chill Summer Collection

My friend/brother Dragon Wil recently shared a song by the group 'First Choice' with me, and it sparked a wave of nostalgia and inspiration, over 6 hours (sliced into 3 mixes) of music that I wanted to share with you. This song transported me back to the vibrant mid-70s in New York City, when a revolutionary sound was brewing, long before Hollywood knew it! We lovingly called it 'Hustle Music.'

This infectious genre was everywhere, filling bodegas, blasting from cars, boomboxes, and portable 8-tracks, and dominating the airwaves. It shaped the urban nightlife in exhilarating ways. With its pulsating four-on-the-floor beats, syncopated basslines, and lush arrangements featuring strings, brass, horns, electric pianos, and rhythm guitars, Hustle Music laid the foundation for what would soon be recognized as Disco. What began in the underground clubs evolved into a cultural movement, providing the soundtrack for a generation that danced unapologetically to the rhythms of liberation and joy.

Fast forward to the 21st century, and the legacy of that initial fervor has morphed into a genre known as Nu-Disco. Characterized by its revivalist spirit, Nu-Disco pays homage to the lush disco soundscapes of the late 1970s while drawing inspiration from the synthesizer-heavy dance music of the 1980s and early 1990s. The early 2000s saw a resurgence of this genre, which continued to grow in popularity throughout the 2010s, capturing the hearts of both new and nostalgic audiences alike. Nu-Disco encapsulates the very essence of dance music, inviting listeners to lose themselves in the groove, just as they did decades earlier.

For me, it all began with Esther Phillips’ soulful rendition of 'What a Difference a Day Makes,' the first record I played at a party that ignited my passion for DJing back in the summer of 1975. With only a trusty Sony mixer lacking a headphone jack, I ventured into the world of mixing.

Since childhood, music has been my constant companion, but crossing the threshold from merely listening to expertly blending tracks became a feverish obsession.

The thrill of merging two songs while wordsmithing them to convey a message and watching the dance floor come to life is a feeling like no other. It was more than a hobby; it was my way of connecting with the vibrant cultural pulse of the city, a passion that would resonate through the years as the soundtrack to countless nights filled with laughter, movement, and the unique rhythms of life. In those moments, I wasn't just playing music; I was crafting an experience that mirrored the joy and resilience of the very city that gave birth to it all.

Nuyorican Soul is a piece of American music from New York City, New York with all the flavor of the streets. It was made popular by Little Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez.  This style of music featured guest appearances from George Benson, Roy Ayers, Tito Puente, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jocelyn Brown, Vincent Montana Jr., Salsoul Orchestra, and India.

This series (3 disc set) was performed live in the club while recording the music straight to CD with no editing or mastering. You will experience the good, bad, and the ugly of live recording without filters as they were converted to this digital format. Music is just a way of life, listen to the mix and enjoy the party!

My friend/brother Dragon Wil inspired this 6-hour session by sharing a song by the group "First Choice." This song took me down memory lane when, in the vibrant tapestry of New York City during the mid-70s, a revolutionary sound was brewing long before Hollywood caught on, the phenomenon we lovingly referred to as Hustle Music.

This infectious genre filled the air in bodegas and flowed from cars, blaring from boomboxes and streaming from portable 8-tracks, shaping the urban nightlife in exhilarating ways. With its pulsating four-on-the-floor beats, syncopated basslines, and lush arrangements featuring strings, brass, horns, electric pianos, and rhythm guitars, Hustle Music laid the foundation for what would soon be recognized as Disco. What began in the underground clubs evolved into a cultural movement that provided the soundtrack for a generation, dancing unapologetically to the rhythms of liberation and joy. It was not just a style of music; it was an acknowledgment of community and an expression of freedom, resonating in the hearts of those who found solace and ecstasy on crowded dance floors.

Fast forward to the 21st century, and the legacy of that initial fervor has morphed into a genre known as Nu-Disco, characterized by its revivalist spirit that pays homage to the lush disco soundscapes of the late 1970s while drawing inspiration from the synthesizer-heavy dance music of the 1980s and early 1990s. The early 2000s saw a resurgence of this genre, which continued to grow in popularity throughout the 2010s, captivating the hearts of both new and nostalgic audiences alike. Nu-Disco encapsulates the essence of dance music, inviting listeners to lose themselves in the groove, just as they did decades earlier. Reuniting with my crew, The Posse, was like stepping into a time machine, back to the golden days when they were at nearly every one of my gigs, vibing with the music and bringing the energy. This time, we found ourselves in a spot called Ed's Garage, reminiscing and catching up. As fate would have it, an aspiring DJ (DJ-Knott), son-in-law to one of my Posse brothers, decided to put the legend to the test. He’d heard the stories and wanted to verify and witness for himself what this seasoned DJ could do.
 
Handing over control of his throne, he sat back, eager to soak in the experience. Before I even touched the decks, I asked him what he wanted to hear. His response? “Do you know how to play Reggae?” I just smiled and threw the question back at him, did he know Reggae? He laughed, saying of course, given his background.
 
And so, it began. I started with some old-school, vintage reggae, easing into the rhythm and letting the music take over. About 45 minutes in, he turned to me and asked, "Are you recording this?" Of course, I wasn’t, but that was all the encouragement I needed. I hit the record button and let the session unfold organically. What was meant to be a short demonstration stretched into a marathon, filled with deep basslines, hypnotic melodies, and pure vibes while displaying my diversity with musical categories. 

Andy was hooked, completely lost in the flow. My Posse brothers, meanwhile, sat back, eyes glazed over with nostalgia as some of these Reggae, Soulful House, and Salsa tracks transported them back to the nights they'd defined. I caught Eddie mouthing the lyrics to some of the songs with a mischievous glint in his eye. Malik, usually so stoic, was actually moving his shoulders swaying subtly to the rhythm. Andy shook his head, a look of bewildered awe on his face. "Man," he said, "I get it now. I really get it."

I smiled, a genuine, heartfelt smile. I hadn't come to DJ, I'd come to reconnect, to be in the moment with my Posse brothers. But in the end, the night had taken on a life of its own, blending nostalgia, rhythm, and passion into something truly unforgettable. The recording, I realized, wasn't just a record of the music we played. It was a record of the magic we'd created, a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the timeless language of music. It was a perfect evening, all around.

I'm a person who loves music and creating mixes of full-length songs for friends along my travels. I like to spin with no setup, just playing off the top of my head while in the moment.  

Currently, I am sharing the mixes with my long-time friends and a new audience. I come from listening to the great DJs at the Gallery, The Garage, The Loft, The Shelter, Zanzibar, The World, The Tunnel (early years), Baseline, Funhouse, The Fever, Bonds International, 1018, on WBLS (early 80's), and too many street parties to mention.  These were the times when people danced (worked it out) all night into the morning and not just bobbed side to side. 

My love for music started in the early 70s as a way to channel my energy in a more positive direction.  Music became my teacher about life's many situations. I gleaned a lot from music, which became a significant part of my lifestyle. Later my older brother started me DJing for private parties in NYC.  

All that training led me to DJing in my travels. Traveling since 1981, I visited 49% of this big blue marble sharing the NYC flavor.  This was when most NYC DJs didn't venture outside of the tri-state area making me a unique commodity in my travels to Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and too many more places to mention here.  None of these nights would have been as memorable if it wasn't for the support of my many friends worldwide!  All of you should stand up now and take a well-deserved bow!

I have DJ'd as the recording media changed through the years from 8-track, reel to reel, cassettes, DAT, Minidisk, CD, MP3, and so on ... This site is just a place to share my music of live club sessions (typically 5-8 straight hours of DJing) with my long time friends who have asked for me to convert their analog recordings to digital format for old time sake. You also get to experience my evolutionary growth in this field.

My humble mixes have the occasional recorded mistakes (record skips, rough mixes, etc.). This is unavoidable when recording live shows directly to the media as I honed my skills through the years. There are not any post-production corrections in the work, you hear the good, the bad, and the ugly mixes. 

All mixes were recorded live, mixes earlier than 2001 went direct to magnetic tape, and after 2001 were digitally captured while staying true to the music, and the dancers' way of life, as my mind's eye feels about the mix at that place in time.  I also made all attempts to pay respect to the artists who created the sound. 

The venue is my church, the DJ booth is my pulpit, and the music is my sermon.  Come on in and listen as I pour out my heart and preach!
