May 13th see the release of 'Bluebird, Hollywood... Domino' the lead track from the anticipated mini LP '... from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' to be released in on July 9th 2021

'Bluebird...' is a psychedelic upbeat 6/8 stomp. As one reviewer has stated reminiscent of '22 Dreams' period Weller and British psychedelic rock group Traffic. The overdriven bass and the chiming guitars have a hint of Macca's 'Rain' and Townsend's 'Seeker'

Sojourn is a track from the Departures EP (2021). The piece is framed around the idea of a short stay allowing for a pause and reflection. There is a short section of bare fifths near the end that evokes the sound of an orchestra tuning - this is my nod to something I've missed hearing at concerts during the last year when performances have been unable to go ahead.

Rising singer-songwriter Roxanne de Bastion announces the release of her cathartic second album ‘You and Me, We are the Same’. The ten songs were written by Roxanne, then recorded and produced with Bernard Butler, during the two year period Roxanne was losing her father. However, ‘You and Me, We are the Same’ is not a sad album. It has moments of euphoria, of fun, of falling in love, as well as falling apart, because as Roxanne explains “all those things still happen, even in our darkest chapters.”

New single ‘Molecules’ is a slice of hypnotic, invigorating and intelligent dark-pop fusing elements of psych, folk, and a love of late 60s production, with Roxanne’s sound taking inspiration from artists like
The Beatles through to Regina Spektor. Roxanne’s pure vocal is both contrasted and complemented by the screaming violins and vigorous guitar riffs, the latter, alongside the video’s stylised black and
red silhouetted imagery, a nod to The White Stripes’ influence. The track’s drum sound is actually clapping and Roxanne hitting things like tambourines and floor toms in Bernard’s living room.

Lyrically, ‘Molecules’ raises some divine questions in its refrain “You can shout at molecules and see them react…that might be God, they might have mislabelled that.” As Roxanne explains “What if we got it wrong? If there is such a thing as divinity, maybe it’s more on a modular level.”

Roxanne currently resides in London but was brought up between Berlin and the West Midlands by her musician father. She has previously self-released one album ‘Heirlooms &amp; Hearsay’ (2017) and
played a staggering 600+ gigs to date, including festivals performances at Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk Festival, Lambchop and the Wainwright Sisters support slots, a packed-out album
launch show at Sackler Space, Roundhouse, London supporting the PRSF Women Make Music fund, a sold-out gig at The Lexington, London to launch her tour diary book ‘Tales from the Rails’, plus
several Europe and UK-wide tours, and in 2017-2018 two extensive USA tours. Roxanne’s incredible achievements as a pioneering independent artist have been recognised by FAC(Featured Artists Coalition) who invited her to join the Board Of Directors, advising and representing
artists alongside Imogen Heap, Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Blur’s Dave Rowntree. Roxanne also heads FM2U, a music conference specifically from and for musicians, which aims to empower &amp;
educate as well as create a strong community of artist.
More recently, 2020 saw Roxanne play one of the UK’s first virtual tours during the very early stages of lockdown, in support of #saveourvenues campaign, garnering coverage on Metro, Huffington Post and BBC News. This was followed by a special one-off live stream at London’s Moth Club broadcast to fans around the world and recorded for her 10” vinyl ‘Live at Moth Club’ EP. The same year Roxanne released the singles ‘Erase’ and ‘Heavy Lifting’ from the forthcoming ‘You and Me, We are the Same’ album, which collectively received huge radio support including plays on
BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Wales and BBC Radio London and Absolute Radio, with press coverage from the likes of Clash ‘Track of the Day’ and Independent’s Now Hear This playlist.
