Everywhere at the End of Time is the eleventh recording by the Caretaker, an alias of English electronic musician Leyland Kirby. Released between 2016 and 2019, its six studio albums use degrading loops of sampled ballroom music to portray the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

Stage 0.1 ( An Empty Bliss Beyond This World ) An Empty Bliss Beyond This World reflects, with broken sounds, the mind of an Alzheimer's patient who struggles to remember parts of their life. The record was based on a 2010 study about the ability of people with the disease to remember music from their time, as well as their context within the patient's life.

Stage 1 "it's just a burning memory"( independence ): Stage 1 is described as the initial signs of memory deterioration, being the closest album in the series to "a beautiful daydream".

Stage 2 The Way Ahead Feels Lonely ( Uncertainty ): The second stage is self realisation and awareness that something is wrong with a refusal to accept that. More effort is made to remember so memories can be more long form with a little more deterioration in quality.                      

2.0 Now the night is over ( Patient (After SeBald) ): 'Patience (After Sebald)' is a multi-layered film essay on landscape, art, history, life and loss - an exploration of the work and influence of German writer WG Sebald (1944-2001), told via a long walk through coastal East Anglia tracking his most famous book 'The Rings Of Saturn'.

Stage 2.5

 Stage 3 - Hidden Sea Buried Deep ( Follow the leader ): is described as the patient experiencing "some of the last coherent memories before confusion fully rolls in and the grey mists form and fade away.

Stage 3.2 - Minimal all you are( Everywhere, an empty bliss ): Everywhere, an empty bliss is The Caretaker's final album, released on March 14, 2019 along with Everywhere at the end of time - Stage 6. This album is composed of archival tracks that were created during the making of Everywhere at the end of time. An altered version of this album was released on CD in April 2019.

Stage 4 - Post-Awareness Confusions( Clinginess/clingy dementia ): Post-Awareness Stage 4 is where serenity and the ability to recall singular memories gives way to confusions and horror. It's the beginning of an eventual process where all memories begin to become more fluid through entanglements, repetition and rupture.

Stage 5 Synapse Retrogenesis/Advanced plague entanglements ( Overnight care ): As we near the end, Stage 5 sees our protagonist enter a near-permanent state of confusion and horror.” Stage 5: slits of light are occasionally glimpsed, manifesting behind a set of blank eyes, but these glimpses of freedom are now enveloped by perpetual fog.

Stage 6 Place In The World Fades Away( Full Time care ): Stage 6 is the final hour, the sound of the self dying, and the death of its music. The body is a vessel, a limited being with an expiration date, but music, like the soul, is a disembodied force, so perhaps its heart does go on. As everything fades away, The Caretaker waves goodbye with a glimmer of acceptance.

Today we’re seeing two great producers team up together and sharing the track on the catalog in a collaboration. Get to know both Afroham and RINZ. in-depth in this article down below for the full vision & vibe of the song. It’s a true honor of sharing this one with you all!

Interview with Afroham.
When I was 14 I was fooling around in FL studio for a little bit, and I thought “how did they make beats before they had software like Fruity loops?” I searched literally for “analog beatmaking” on YouTube and I discovered the Akai MPC, which changed my perception on making music entirely. Growing up in Zaandam, Netherlands without many other producers – musicians around me, especially those who were into hiphop.

I later discovered the “Flip This!” section on Future producers where I basically taught myself how to flip samples I found on YouTube and cheap records. I had a deep love for Drum & Bass which is were I learned the importance of mixing and sound design, but the technicality of the music started to bore me which made me turn back to hiphop and I haven’t left since. Besides that, I finally started to find people with a similar passion and slowly started to build a network of musicians and producers who continue to inspire me to this day. I’m so grateful for the community, labels and artists I’ve met through this journey. One of these artists is Rinz. We met relatively recently through mutual producer friends and this is the first project we worked on (the picture is during our first studio session together).

The Caretaker conjures a quieter, more introspective spirit, lost in his own mind amidst a low-lit labyrinth of ever-decaying and antediluvian shellac phrases. Sourced from a mysterious collection of 78s, these vague snippets of archaic sonics reflect the ability of Alzheimers patients to recall the songs of their past, and with them recollections of places, people, moods and sensations.
