Do you remember disaster, the panic on the morning after?
The fervor and the fire, compared to the stillness of the water
Am I gonna miss you when I’m older or is growth just the natural order?
I’m thinkin I might just apologize but I wonder, would it matter?
I kinda like singin in the darkness, you can’t see all the faces I make
When I contort my throat to hit those notes that are just a little out of my range
And I won’t change the melody because it’s already written
And it’s perfect as it is so it won’t need revision
And it is easy to see the flaw in your foundation, but ain’t the hardest step always admission

She wrote my name on her leg
Fall asleep on the couch, weave your fingers into the fold or disappear in the sound
Either way, I’m starting over at the very first sight of light
But I’m walking home tonight…

I am a backyard barbecue, the still glass surface of a swimming pool
And you are the lost souls passing through in the middle of a sunday afternoon
Just dreaming of a world worth waiting for, mine is the window yours is the door
I’m in the corridor and you’re on the ocean floor with all the sunken stomachs

And if I can’t find it here, then why do I feel so guilty still?

At least you still got the window seat
My failed attempt at sympathy
Are we even prepared for an emergency if it all goes to hell?
It’s funny but I’m having trouble smiling when you say the kind of things you’re saying to me
Everything has to end eventually I guess I knew you well
And if it hurts that bad then leave the door wide open and don’t plan on coming back
And I’ve seen the feeling come back to life, so put your faith in mine
And it’ll be just like riding a bike

We can get together we can be a band
Far away from the people that hate us
They have their reasons, but we have a van

But from right where I’m standing 
I can see the red light of the morning
I still haven’t packed my bags for the journey 
But I can see the ocean and the fires
All the boring pleasantries that made so many families
Decide that it’s not inspiration but rather what you do with it
Before you lose it
So then why, do I feel so guilty? I guess it must be personal
But I’ll put those nameless faces to rest
And maybe face the right direction, I don’t know if it won’t still fall apart
But it’s a pretty good place to start

my cold corpse as it crawls across the earth
	maybe in the morning i’ll remember what i deserve
cancel all my plans drawing bodies on the grass
	contemplate faith but you cant really kill the dead
cut across the yard and the yard i must defend
	imaginary gashes haven’t healed all the way yet
the kind of bad dreams they will never understand
	i’ll never be as proud as the day i killed my friends

we’ll be the good guys we’ve lived here the longest
and you can be the zombies
we’ll chase you around the whole cul-de-sac
when i tag you on the back
that means you’re dead and i cut off your head
in the night we’ll fall down and die
but we’ll all be back again

keep your voice down now we gotta get outta here fast
	they’re never gonna catch me i’m better at running than that
a fire in my lungs that an ice cold grip unfurls
	there won’t be room for us both at the end of the world
bodies are quick with no soul to help decide
	if i’m old enough to deal with leaving a friend behind
i’ll come back for you, i promise into lifeless eyes
	i wanna go home but you left me here to die
