The fifth compilation in Novatone's Orbit series! For this milestone, we decided to revive a classic event from 2018, Audiosquads! Participants were required to work in groups of 3-4 people, and take turns to create an original track from scratch emulating the genre.

False Awakening

A track made using only pots and pans for Darkhawk during Audio Secret Santa 2020. I won third place! :)

The kick is a mixing bowl covered with a cloth. The rides and gongs are colanders. The hi hats are pot lids. Overall I think the track suffered from an inability to make any sustained melodic instruments like, oh I don't know, the "bass" in "drum and bass." Still, it was fun to experiment with recording my own drum samples, and the other participants seemed to like it. I may have to work frying pans into my workflow in the future!

Just for fun, here's a picture of my recording setup and a link to the sample pack I created. (I wasn't planning on public use so the normalization and noise removal is inconsistent, sori)
