KOALA has been making d.i.y. bedroom outsider lo-fi anti folk punk since 2003, but due to mental illness and drug addiction he lost his focus and nothing ever came of it. After sobering up and regaining a degree of sanity, he began writing and recording again in the fall of 2015. 
K0ALA was raised in Los Angeles and grew up in the punk rock and hardcore scene, moving into indie and noise rock in his young adulthood. Influences are taken from punk and hardcore, from indie folk and indie rock, from noise rock, from outsider, from folk punk, from early americana-roots, from folk and country, from alt. country and antifolk, even from the lyricism of hip hop (i.e. wu tang clan, del the funky homosapien, asher roth, el-p).

KOALA has long aimed to cultivate the chaos and urgency in his own life and capture it in his songs (whether he has failed at this or not is up to you). Noise, fuzz, overdrive, feedback, off key vocals, detuned guitars, cheap recording equipment, and of course chain smoking cheap cigarettes all add up to make the fucking mess that is KOALA?! AND THE K-HOLES

Some label better come suck this shit up before Def Jam or Atlantic come a knockin! :/

Koala?! and the Exploding Meth Lab are a side project of Koala?! (of Koala?! and the K-Holes). Whereas the latter is antifolk/folk punk, the former will be focused on a more traditional sound, making use of outlaw country, americana, roots, alternative country, bluegrass etc.


Marsupial Power Repost only resposts what the head marsupial enjoys himself. No requests, no swaps etc. You are welcome to send music in, but the head marsupial is much less structured than you would assume a head marsupial would be. No genre restrictions....eccentric music for eccentric tastes...punk noise drum and bass death metal hip hop turntablism classical jazz avante garde glitch grime IHH IDM and so on.

Songs about folks, sunsets, oceans, mountains, jungles and dive bars I woke up in. Stories of feeling locked out in the rain, getting stuck in a square peg, making the mistake of dancing with the fairies and feeling like Rip Van Winkle. They are stories from an outsiders perspective, the belief in heroes, mythologies and an open highway. Indignation at injustice and the belief in a better tomorrow. Or maybe just disillusionment. 

If you’ve ever asked yourself what happened to this world and what happened to dreams maybe one of these songs is for you. If you still believe in the power of music to make you a better version of yourself then maybe one of these songs is for you. Or maybe you just wanna have a laugh and listen to some toe tappin music that makes you feel like your not the only one with a quirky perspective on the world. Maybe you just want to feel like a hero with headphones for a few minutes. Or maybe your just looking for a slob to hang out with.
