A pause box is an experiment in sound and story, divided into six acts, lasting 33 minutes in total. The work re-imagines a city as a derelict theatre, re-enchanted by non-human terrestrial protagonists.

Not long ago, while working on a project in India, I had free time to drive around the countryside on a motorbike. At one point I drove off the main road down a dirt track and discovered a patchwork of paddy fields. As it was winter the rice plants were irrigated instead of being watered by monsoon rains. The flow of liquid made an interesting sound that changed every time a variable was introduced to its system: turning a corner; encountering an obstacle; splitting in two paths; backwashing; dropping from a height etc. Essentially my project is a sonic snapshot of the water flowing in this paddy field. Although the piece is site-specific, I’d be delighted if the listener went somewhere else entirely while listening to it.

Piece made as part of a sound bath performance/installation titled 'Feel OK' at P! in NYC. London-based artist David Blamey invited the audience to rest for 40 minutes, as he administered the latest iteration of his ongoing O.K. sound project. In reference to meditation tapes and mantras various field recordings are compiled and folded into repetitions of the word "O.K." to create an immersive sonic experience.

This project first evolved from an ink drawing by the artist of the word 'O.K.', which he made in India in 2008. O.K. is the world's most widely understood word denoting acceptance, approval or compliance. When the word is repeated, it begins to lose its universal meanings to become something entirely different. Banality takes new forms when repetition is utilized to create change.

the florist’s mum is distinguished from other experimental labels not by it's inclination towards the avant-garde, but by it’s aestheticized return back to an originally melodic design. Functioning mostly within leftfield, everything is done with a sense of irony, for the florist’s mum is an attempt at beauty out of the remains of sun warped records, VHS tapes, and faulty drum machines. Releases that are always matte, and never glossy, the florist’s mum is an affront to the genre-seekers, and a breath of fresh air to those serious art goers feeling not so serious anymore.
