On August 11th 1973 the godfather of Hip Hop DJ Kool Herc threw a party that was to spawn a worldwide movement. In 2013 Hip Hop turns 40! 

To honour this DJ Woody launches his new audio-visual DJ show as an ode to the music and culture that changed his and so many others' lives over the last 4 decades. 

'Hip Hop is 40' chronicles and celebrates all things Hip Hop. 
From the original breaks to the first rap records and through the eighties, nineties and noughties party rockers up to todays future classics.

Building on his groundbreaking video DJ shows 'Turntables In Technicolor' and 'Big Phat 90's' and utilising his trademark edits, animations, graphics and World champion turntablist skills. This is Woody's most ambitious show to date!

Carhartt WIP Radio October 2012: J Rocc - Medicine Radio Show Pt. 1

Los Angeles based DJ, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and music producer Madlib let his mind free wheeling and prepared a Carhartt WIP Radio show that accompanies the Medicine Show Europe Tour 2012 featuring Freddie Gibbs, J Rocc, and himself. His mix features unreleased, unheard, and exclusive Madlib material in combination with some known stuff out of his musical universe. An edgy twisted, 47 minutes long collage that melds hip hop and audio drama into one big psychedelic trip.

Representative of how the Internet can aid in creating music, the Foreign Exchange started when Little Brother rapper Phonte heard a beat on Okayplayer.com by Dutch producer Nicolay and asked if he could lay some vocals over it. Nicolay agreed, and the song "Light It Up" appeared shortly after as the B-side to Little Brother's 2002 single "Whatever You Say." Relying mainly on instant messaging and email, the duo continued to work together, with Nicolay sending beats to Phonte, who would add vocals and send them back until they had enough tracks together to form an album. Not once during the entire process of making their debut, Connected, which came out in 2004, did the members of the Foreign Exchange speak over the phone or in person. Due in part to an increasing production load, Nicolay moved to the States, and Leave It All Behind, the second FE album -- more R&B-oriented than the debut -- was recorded. Released in 2008 and featuring a handful of stunning videos, its lead single, "Daykeeper," was nominated for a 2010 Grammy in the category of Best Urban/Alternative Performance (and lost to India.Arie's "Pearls"). After assisting two of their associates, YahZarah (The Ballad of Purple St. James) and Zo! (SunStorm), with albums, the Foreign Exchange released Authenticity. All three albums were issued in 2010 through The Foreign Exchange Music. A DVD/CD set, Dear Friends: An Evening with the Foreign Exchange (2011) and a two-disc set of remixes and new songs titled The Reworks (2013) preceded the group's fourth studio album, Love in Flying Colors.
