Bad Thoughts

It’s time for another debutant at Jansen Plateproduksjon, and we’re proud of presenting Hajk as the newest member of our family. The Oslo band have so far released three singles, and their de-but album will finally be let loose on the masses during spring 2017.

But relax, there will be more music from the band before that time. Their single «Common Sense» have been played at various radio stations during the past months, and the band are finally ready to release their new single, the “complete” pop song, «Magazine».

Considering that they’re such a fresh band, Hajk have been surprisingly quick to adjust them-selves. Not long after they entered the door to their rehearsal space, they played at Slottsfjellfesti-valen, Øyafestivalen and by:Larm. They were listed on radio before they left the stage at those festivals, and now they’re here – with a brand-new record contract and a brace of songs that any band would be jealous of. 

Hajk are fronted by Preben Sælid Andersen and Sigrid Aase, who share the vocals. Musical-ly, Hajk are situated in a modern pop/rock landscape, with an emphasis on very strong melodies. The band are influenced by artists like Dirty Projectors, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Amason, but still they stand firmly on their own feet, with an original sound that also challenges the genre they belong to. 

«Magazine» is a pop song that we guarantee you will hum along to from now on. Mark my words.

Part song, part experimental tech-art piece, Toronto’s cinematic indie-pop/rock duo W I N C H E S T E R reveal their second single I'm Not Ready to Go Yet, taken from their forthcoming EP, “If Time is Not Linear Why Can’t I Forget the Past?”. The high-tech visual and audio experience is the product of the unbridled collision of the pair’s backgrounds in architecture, classical music, coding, visual art, DJing, and design. Together, Canadian artists Lauren Austin and Montgomery de Luna forge an atmospheric sonic palette brought to life by an equally hybrid video art piece that blurs the line between computation, projection mapping, photography, and still life.

A refreshing, genre-bending composition of cinematic swoons, pop hooks, luscious synths, and surreal guitars, songs from the W I N C H E S T E R debut have been described as, “epic tracks” by Velvet Rope Magazine’s editor Care Finch, stating, “this is certainly a band that I can get into”. Despite only releasing their first single in October of 2016, the song has already been picked up by the Hype Machine, IX Daily, Pan od Muzyki, Le Canal Auditif, Aimless Skylarking, Indiemono, and Indie Bands Blog. Their informal demos have previously garnered the attention of Velvet Rope, the Indie Rock Playlist, ongeKunsteld, 88.3 CJIQ’s Indie Rock Invasion Show, Bells Brigade, Coast2Coast Mixtapes, Music of the North, and 89.5 CIUT’s Unsigned Radio.

Fully self-produced in domestic secrecy, I'm Not Ready to Go Yet is the second in a series of art pieces to be released later this year through Label Labs Records, an emerging grassroots recording club based out of Toronto. With each release the group will carve out another piece of the W I N C H E S T E R universe, methodically developing the visual companion to each song. This combination of sonic and visual elements as one integrated work advances the duo’s vision of a holistic concept realized through multiple media which will define their place in the music scene.

happy thanksgiving, and thank you for buying this album and supporting our cause.   this EP is a stern reminder for all of us, not just to eat and be merry, but to take this particular holiday season to revisit and rekindle the flame in you.  to take more of an active part in the world and not lie dormant.  yes, you work to survive. but, what in your heart is your end goal? with whom lies your passion to expand your soul, to keep your heart pumping and allow you to express and to be yourself, fully?  look for ways to maximize the health, and longevity not just for you, but for this earth as your guide, and believe me you will find that passion in you.  too long you've been silenced, placated, ameliorated, flat out lied to, medicated, pilled, reprocessed, taken advantage of, snuffed out, desensitized, overstimulated, and stuffed with preservatives, processed sugars and white pills, monotonous music, mindless alternate realities on cable tv, brainless celebrity idols and carnival games to keep you entertained, like a baby.  

no.  what does this world need?  who controls the world?  and who's controlling them?  who's there to tell them they're fucking it up for everyone and they shouldn't do that?  not only for the sake of the wellbeing of earth, but for us as well?  it is up to us.  the people.  

so, with that, after work next monday, don't just go home and take to your tv or computer and turn your brain off.  a paycheck is not your end goal in life.  join a library.  take a class.  teach a class somewhere.  read something.  take up a hobby.  paint outside.  learn to plant a tree.  cut meat out your diet.  read up about clean energy tech.  engage yourself.  look into local farms.  or just read, post and repost positive constructive shit on your social media.

its really not up to anyone, or any god, anymore., to tell us everything will be ok.  i am not a baby.  it is truly up to us as the most powerful species in the known universe and the sheer power of the instantaneous internet to shepherd this world in a positive direction for all of us.  otherwise, we die.  in any denominational way you choose.

Logan Takahashi caps off a dynamic year that saw the producer and one-half of Teengirl Fantasy release his debut solo album, NoGeo. An album set to its own unique pace, NoGeo was an opportunity for Takahashi to bring listeners into a world he built from the ground up. For NoGeo Remixes, Takahashi provides a wide canvas for Sporting Life and Kaazi to reinterpret two of the album’s tracks. Sporting Life takes “Cella” head on, injecting the single with an even amount of bounce, while Kaazi polishes “Kazoku Ogawa” into a dance floor contender, giving the track a deeper bottom end and an extra ounce of melody.

Computer Magic - Don't Speak (No Doubt Cover)

Tires screech as a car packed to the ceiling pulls away, urgently longing to get out of California. The passenger seat is empty—a warm glow grows stronger among the hills in the distance. This is the world of “Grounded Satellites”, the triumphant return of Copenhagen based indie rock outfit The Forever Now. The band has come a long way since BIRP.FM referred to Throw it Down as, “an atmospheric sonic palette brought to life”, and Indie Obsessive awarded it a “contender for ‘The Summer Hit of 2017’,” marked by their relocation from Canada to Denmark.

Combining cinematic elements with indie rock, synth-pop, and singer-songwriter music, The Forever Now carve out a filmic experience with each release. Defined by their genre-defying style and relentlessly do-it-yourself approach, The Forever Now have been on critics’ radar from their debut, when, according to TEEZ FM, “they have impacted the music scene with their proper debut single ‘Last Day of the Year’”.

The project has often drawn comparisons to artists such as M83, The Naked And Famous, MGMT, Chvrches, and Oh Wonder. The Revue described their work as: “Incredibly beautiful. It is part cinematic, part cosmic, part operatic, and completely dazzling. The production work is sublime, radiating of the spatial pacing of Anthony Gonzalez’s (M83) work on Oblivion. The song, however, reaches sonic heights that Gonzalez wasn’t able to achieve … Simply spectacular.” With Grounded Satellites, The Forever Now mark a return to form, finally achieving the soaring heights of an explosive indie rock single they always dreamed about.
