Today we present a Q & A by the Spanish label SOIL records. SOIL has remained solid and prolific during the most challenging times of the pandemic, releasing first-rate material, both digital and wax, thriving in the music spectrum. Elegant, pure and sophisticated, the label also has a stunning visual aspect, trusted into the creative mind of the designer Greta Haga.
Having curated artists like Penelope's Fiance, Autumns, Arabian Partner, Arnaud Rebotini, Terrence Fixmer, and more, SOIL is now releasing the second version of Distant's - Carmesí Diablo. This time the record is enriched with powerful remixes by Distant, Randstad, The Mover, Max Durante, Melania. We premiere Melania's remix, dynamic industrial techno, with a highly imposing, dark atmosphere, embraced by faint voices, all creating a sense of a hallucinating delirium. Once you enter the abyss, there is no way back.

After three years in the pipeline, it’s about time for the KATRAN full-time debut album: Darko Kolar of ONTAL dishes out an instant industrial techno classic, eleven tracks of no-nonsense hard-hitting assaults with four prolific guests bringing their very own sound to extend the musical range of “Above the Concrete“ in a most intriguing way. Expect no moments of rest, surrender to the force of banging repetitive power branded with a brave scrape-and-burn musical edge. With a new version of his 2019 FORMS OF HANDS compilation track “Mirror Reflection” Kolar dives straight into the driving dance floor material that he has been cutting his teeth on the half dozen KATRAN tracks released so far and takes it from there: Pristine sound design, various flavours of the almighty kick drum and traces of melodic ambience, floating above the industrial shrieks and screeches that litter the album. The four tracks that have been produced in collaboration promise stimulating diversion: “Isolation” with Spanish DJ/producer SURIT evolve around a slow, pronounced bass line and suggests some deceptive calm, former Ad Noiseam act FAUSTEN tear up the rhythmic structure of “Envenomation” and conjure up chaos, French veteran ELEKTROPLASMA contribute some hardcore flavour to “Disruption” and “Sudden Closure” features noise legend KK NULL with uncontrollable outbursts of industrial debris. Loop-based, repetitive industrial techno with an edge is a time-honoured and accustomed tradition that HANDS has been fostering since ORPHX’s 1999 classic “Vita Mediativa”, and “Above the Concrete” follows in those footsteps. Strong rhythmic energy to work up a sweat meet nuanced and layered sounds that elevate this album above the functional, above the concrete.

Tapefeed - Boldfinger(Killawatt Remix)(Metempsychosis)

After an annum of repose, London-based and industrial-clique-doted Depth.Request offers to consideration what's promised to be the first volume in a series titled Hostile Responses & Provocations. Boasting an international lineup, this post-punk, EBM-leaning VA release revolves predominantly at a pace of 135 BPM and features occasional outbursts of indiscernibly distorted lyrics throughout its six rough-hewed, distinctly industrial cuts.

Setting a brooding but aptly instigating tone, No.Ba's opener Bourbon Drive rolls out with unhastily tumbling percs, widely mounting pads and grungy bass cast behind roaring outcries of a rather aggravated vocalist.

Positing that Hate's A Loaded Gun, Istigkeit then continues by elevating velocity, hardening its relentless kicks and violating the rest of the spectrum with walls of sandy hats and whooshes occasionally intersected with looped utterances.

Cranking the cacophony handle to eleven in his wildly syncopated Shug that creates sense of participating in a DIY rave taking place at the base of an erupting volcano, War Scenes programs the drums to run at a double time next to speeding open hats and a condensed, pressurizing sub level.

As last days of s.e.x.'s-fathered and Espectra Negra-featured Phallic Mother starts off, one could be forgiven for thinking that a record with sirens of the apocalypse have been put under the needle of God's antique doomsday gramophone; breathing room is nowhere be found on this anarchic monstrosity on an aural beatdown where screeching and screaming combat to outperform the relentless drumline in gain.

The plate's penultimate suggestion Never Be Silent sees NX1 participant Samot coming well to his own through the use of quartertime-turning-halftime kicks, dirty bass sheets, eerily exhaling stabs, elongated shrills and other percussive arrangements forged seemingly of sheer noise conditioned to occupy higher ranges.

Closing on a comparatively restrained, stealthy crawler DXS, Blasted lastly showcases his knack for conjuring contemplative sound environments where UK bass can flirt with techno and percussive elements of non-overlapping positions are given equal footing in terms of establishing rhythms and carrying the sonic narrative forward without a need for restraint to permanent patterns of behavior.
