Kathy was disconnected..You can tell Kathy is one of those rich parents who cares more about reputation and perception from peers than actually wanting to pour into their child emotionally and getting to the root of why they’re acting out.

I agree with Dustin. I do community work in spaces with at risk youth that would be considered extremely insubordinate and difficult, but it IS impossible to not feel an overwhelming sense of love, connection, and empathy for them. Seeing that they need an over abundance of that, and how much it helps them, is the most beautiful feeling.. I can't imagine the kind of humans that are complicit in their trauma. Well I mean...look at the race of the staff there.............

What was crazy to me is that countries far less developed than ours seemed to step in and shut down Ivy Ridge sister facilities, while America, turns a complete blind eye. It's so scary and disheartening to be reminded at how truly corrupt it is here!!

I can’t speak for Black people as a whole but I can speak on the Somali community. There has been a lot of cases where they have sent their children to “cultural rehabilitation centers” and the kids get physically & sexually abused. I know 2 people personally who’ve experienced them, one died (RIP) from how badly they beat him and the other one made it out and was able to share her stories with others. From what I noticed in my community they just give up on their children instead of trying to connect with them and acknowledge the cultural differences they have with their children who were born and raised in America. It’s lazy parenting to send your child away with strangers!!! I remember being a pre teen going thru a F U mom phase and she sent me to some relatives and they got my ass together! I needed the break and so did she as a single mother. I believe there’s better ways to call in support with your child’s behaviors but institutionalizing them is NOT.
