For more than twenty years, Roel Funcken has been a cornerstone in electronic experimentation. Alongside his brother Don, this Dutch sound sculptor melted hip-hop, industrial and soundscapes under monikers like Funckarma and Shadow Huntaz. A prolific solo musician and collaborator as well, Funcken teams up with Cor Bolten to revive the Legiac project with the eight tracks of Banisteriopsis Caapi. Keys appear through a sorrowful haze in "Mimosa Hostilis", this machined mist difussing as distorted strings penetrate before a dawning of icy brightness. Modulated forms and shapes billow in the bubble and trill of "Pyschotria Viridis" before the orbiting interference and introspection of "Epicatechine." Percussion is reduced to a texture, the duo finding structure in droplets of water, the stretch of steel and a litany of field recordings. The partnership dive deep into their chosen sounds, elongating and expanding tones to find harmony in the absence and isol ation that is their focus. Pieces like "Solanaceae" bristle with an understated elegance, like starlight piercing a brooding night sky, while "Banisteriopsis Caapi" finds an eerie solace in its repurposing of voice as an undulating elegy. Legiac achieve a distant intimacy with their listener, a relationship forged through complex compositions, gentle movements and subtle shifts.

RUSSELL HASWELL is an artist, record producer, free improvisor, computer musician, noise aficionado and curator. 
Trained at Coventry School of Art, graduating in 1992, Russell’s extraordinary conceptual oeuvre resists easy summarisation, focused on the site-specific, performance and methodology of large-scale sound works, sometimes in surround sound. Russell has given solo audio presentations at major Art and Music festivals and events, in art galleries, concert halls, clubs, rock venues, and even squats in 30 countries, and counting. Most recently he has performed at SONIC ACTS, SONAR, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca and Coventry Cathedral. As a curator, Russell has delivered projects for PS1/MoMa, All Tomorrows Parties, Aldeburgh Music, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, and Cafe Oto. He now lives and works in Glasgow.

2025 Amsterdam producer The Funck remixed the old classic joint "until it's all said and done" by New York  MC Skyzoo featuring the legendary Sean Price. The track originally was born based on the sample of the dutch boys choir that's in there (Mastreechter Staar) . Taken from a record from over 100 years ago.

The fabulous baseline on this remix is played by Jeff Aries aka @Yemooda, The Hague.

Couzin Steve - Hush Ya Mouth (Illhack & The Funck remix)

Today, 28 / 09 / 2025 its been 10 years that one the greatest ever touching the microphone in The Netherlands,  left us after short illness. His raw style and energy were true pioneer gifted qualities, and made him technically equivalent similar and pioneer wise maybe even ahead to artists as DMX, Son of Bazerk or Mystikal. Im a big fan from the day I heard his classic Movin On with Nevertheless. 

Hush Ya Mouth is a track, Steve originally made in 2009 with his old friend and producer Illhack from Rotterdam. The way the drum pattern swings in sync with Steve's rhymes let me no other choice than to use Illhack's original drums. So special shout out and thanks  to ILLHACK for providing me the original drum and vocal stems. We made this track together. Much appreciated !!

This remix has been done with the fullest respect to the original, and as a memory to one of the dopest MC's ever in the Netherlands. Movin On ! Lobi.
