Going camping this weekend? Wish you had an extended DJ mix of campfire suitable music that everyone from the grandparents to the kids can enjoy? Look no further. Parental Guidance is Civillian's first foyer into the world of mixing live bands who are playing real instruments, a terrifying thought for many DJ's. With the common thread of real, live music - you can still expect Civillian's signature variety with selections ranging from Aretha Franklin covering the everyone's favourite The Band song "The Weight", to Waylon Jenning's penultimate driving tune "Ramblin' Fever".

Heavily inspired by pioneering efforts in that realm like Smalltown DJ's "Camping Mix", and DJ Ali B "Plays the Blues", this recording was going to be no usual undertaking for Civillian. After 2+ years of focused digging, nearly a year of practicing technique, and a 2 week artist residency in a van down by the river for the final recording stage, it is ready for the open air and the open road.

This was the first time I'd ever played a sunrise Coma Dose set. I hadn't intended to record it, at first, but it really was a special set that I'll never forget and a lot of folks have been asking about it. Night Spell 7

Every year around this time, as the days get shorter and the nights get colder, I find myself spending more time solo, introverted, reflective. That's when this kinda music becomes my soundtrack. It helps me focus and appreciate the positive aspects of spending more time alone. The creativity, the learning, the self care, the perspective and change that come along with the winter months. 

I've wanted to make a "Chill Hop" or "Instrumental Hip Hop" mix for years and I'm glad I finally got around to it this year as we approach what will be, for many, the most isolated winter we've known. This one is for everybody out there who is feelin the struggle right now as we approach the end of a truly bizarre year. You're not alone. I hope this mix helps put a smile on your face and keeps you warm through the long cold nights whether you're flyin solo or chillin with your favorites folks.

Middleton steers the band’s studio efforts, having produced, co-written, and mixed their debut album, TYPECAST. And Smith anchors the project’s live show with an indefatigable charisma that compliments Middleton’s thoughtful production.

Their vision has resonated with both listeners and industry tastemakers alike, with their music amassing over 50 million track streams across their catalog of original productions, remixes and collaborations. Winners of the Electronic/Dance Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, The Funk Hunters also reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Chart with an official remix of U2's "Love Is Bigger."
